Nintendo must know that online functionality is on everyone's minds as they sent out a press release today, reminding us that the upcoming Pokemon Battle Revolution will be the first game to support Wi-Fi Connect gameplay. Not only that, but they reminded us that it'll also be the first:- Pokemon game on the Wii
- Game that allows the Wii and DS to link together
- Wii game that allows the player to control it with the DS

Any doubts about the lack of Wi-Fi games were definitely squashed today between the three Wi-Fi Announcements:

(see above)
- Activision is currently making Wi-Fi games and would like to release the first third part Wi-Fi game

Let me remind you all of those games on the DS... Diamond and Pearl on 22 April... and let me remind you that May and June both have 2 Nintendo titles, while April only has 1 title...

Whoops, May only has 1 Nintendo title. I'm glad, however, that they are doing a constant flow of titles. 22 April sounds like a good day for Nintendo WFC's rite of passage.

I am still crossing my fingers that whatever Wii firmware update that enables the Wii/DS connectivity will allow the DS to use the Wii as a Wifi AP.
This is because I would love for my network to use WPA, which the Wii supports, and the DS doesn't. The perfect solution to this would be to use WPA to connect to the Wii, and then the Wii could connect to the DS through the proprietary Nintendo wireless that they use for local wireless. This would solve a major issue for me.
