Upon our first glimpse of Battalion Wars II, we thought that online multiplayer could really enhance the experience. We're glad to report that Nintendo have seen fit to grant us our wish, confirming via the game's page at Nintendo.com that the title will support online multiplayer. We can't be the only ones looking forward to playing this, can we?

Cool news!
Anyone maybe know how exactly this will work?
Will we be able to play online with others around the world or just the ones from our friend lists?

This game is going to rock!!! And I'm guessing you'll only be able to play with friends.

How's the first one? It seems like it got really mixed reviews: 8.8 from IGN and 5.5 from Game Informer.

This has been on BW's "page" for forever now. I hope someone who doesn't know this already sees this peice of news cause otherwise this post is useless. Check out the Mario Soccer page and you might find some new information about the game as well ;)

I wasn't too impressed with the first one -- I had expected a bit more depth, a bit more RTS-ish-ness... like Uprising (1 or 2), where you have an army to command, but I found it to be more like a simplistic 3rd-person run-and-gun. Maybe they'll add extra depth to the sequel, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I figured everyone knew this, but a confirmation is soothing nonetheless
And i don't see why you would only be able to play with friends, one of the described modes "Skirmish" states that it is simply a "quick head-to-head match with instant combat"
IF Wii Online = DS Online, i would expect the other modes to require friends

Excited to play this? Hardly, the videos I've seen of it are incredibly lackluster. The original BW didn't do too hot either and I doubt they're gonna pull a full 180°.

I really enjoyed the first BW but thought that no multiplayer in it was a major drawback, i'm very very glad to hear this one will have online multiplayer, that just completely sold the game for me!

"will support online multiplayer" doesn't necessarily mean that online multiplayer infrastructure will be there from day 1. It may mean when online comes available....
