As the second golf title (third if you want to count Wii Sports), Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 has apparently gotten it right as many of the critics who reviewed the game have bestowed above-average scores on the game. We haven't gotten our hands on it yet, but with these positive scores, we're definitely more interested. Personally, we're hoping that the Wii controls provide a better solution to putting, as we've always had a problem with that on your standard controller. But enough about us. Shall we check out what they had to say?
- GameZone (83/100) sees the Wii installment as something fans of the series will like: "If you are already a Tiger Woods PGA Tour fan, you will surely appreciate the unique translation on the Wii. Compared to Wii Golf, Tiger Woods 07 is a lot more user friendly."
- 1UP (75/100) thinks the controls could use a little tweaking: "The control hiccups may cause problems, but most of them can be countered with care. But the biggest bonus: Not once will you see starlight dancing off the ball."
- GameSpot (75/100) says it's a great choice for a golf game: "Tiger Woods 07's excellent use of the Wii's motion-sensing abilities makes it a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking to hit the links on the Wii."
- EGM (73/100) is of the mind that the game could cause you some major arthritis: "As for Tiger's mechanics, arthritics beware. If my backswing was jittery, I swung before I intended to--which is frustrating, as the maddening result is a dink instead of a dive." [Apr 2007, p.83]

I know everyone loathes Gamestop, so it is time to add another to the list. I preordered the game at the Gamecrazy in my town and when I went to pick it up yesterday they said "Sorry that game doesn't come out until Friday, we have no idea why you thought it was out today?" Maybe because every other store in the world has them, included the Hollywood Video attached to them had them to rent.

How do you consider these scores above average when almost every single one of these sites gave the game higher ratings on almost every single system out there including the PSP.
I had so much hope for this game and now I feel like I just want to cry my self to sleep or something.
Sigh. Even the PS2 version got higher scores on most sites :(
Fucking sucks.

I take that back. When I said almost every site and almost every system what I really meant to say was every site and every system.
Yeah. This version of Tiger Woods got a lower score than the same game on every system out there and on every single one of these sites.
Pathetic :(

Not bad... but not tremendous either... The controls are finicky, with backswing essentially controlling how powerful your shot will be.
Doing a pitch seems to involve a slightly different swing. Drives are easy, doing a proper approach shot, not so much.
Putting is just painful. You have no gauge for your power aside from doing a practice swing, and often times I found the game not sensing me moving my arms for a putt and/or misfiring.
Lots of modes to choose from which is nice. The graphics are painful however, and there is no excuse. We all know the Wii can handle so much more... Shading isn't even attempted, player models look okay, but Pebble Beach, and the poor water makes a bad eyesore. Would be a better game if there were cartoony looking players instead.
I think I prefer the look and control of Wii Sports golf, just give us more courses, club and swing selection.

i already have super swing and it rocks so i don't see the need for this. i have no qualms playing with cartoony characters and the courses are much more entertaining than real life ones. so unless realism is your thing try super swing. i would really like to see someone do a wide by side comparison and see the pros and cons of each.

I have to agree with some of the other commentors. The games seems to misfire allot. And while driving, I noticed that you could over head swing as well as mimic the normal golf swing with a similar or even better out come.
I think this game is good enough though that it make become quite popular with real life golfers. Especially golfers like me who live in an area where there is snow four months out of the year. It could be just good enough to get a fix. I saw some plastic snap on piece attachments that were suppose to closer mimic a golf club, but if MadCatz or someone made a Wiimote that was shaped more like a golf club handle with certain buttons laid out in appropriate placing, it could be a big hit. And besides if people are willing to pony up the extra money for a guitar accessory that only plays on one game, I think there are plenty of people who would pay for a golf club accessory that could be played on any golf game.

Thanks for the advice snowy. My dad got Tiger woods (still can't believe it.. my dad playing games again for the first in in 20-25 years?!?!) and he's not too happy with it. I won't be getting it.
I have no problem with cartoony graphics. Mario Golf is still my favorite so I'll go buy super swing this weekend.
Thanks again.

Let's put this all in perspective. Established games like EA's different sports titles will have the hardest time with their first Wii versions. This will get much better with just the next version as EA watches and learns quickly with each new console launch,
That said, I wasn't looking for anything earth shakingly new about Tiger Woods 07, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I did enjoy it more than I thought I would in play mode. Where the Wiimote fails is in menu mode as it is frustrating and inconsistent.
Game play is where it counts and I am very pleased where Tiger Woods is headed on the Wii.
