We caught this trailer from the unreleased Gamecube Kirby platformer on Gamevideos, and we are agape. Stunned. We think that given the choice to release this or Kirby Air Ride, Nintendo may have chosen poorly.Kirby is clearly using HAL's Super Smash Bros. Melee engine, and to awesome effect, as the graphics look great and the combat looks fighting-game solid. The video shows off Kirby's ability to not only copy enemy attacks, but to trade in those attacks for helper creatures. We loved the ability-combining mechanic from Kirby 64, and we're glad to see new stuff being done with Kirby's, uh, eating habits.
The world needs side-scrolling platformers, especially when they look this cool. We sincerely hope that the release of this trailer is foreshadowing a Wii release of the game. See the trailer for yourself following the post break.

Simple. HAL turned on the What-If machine, and figured out that the game would be much more awesome on the Wii.
Hey, I'm giving them a second chance here.
DON'T SCREW THIS UP HAL!
Oh, and since they're going to make it a Wii game anyways, port it to the Brawl engine

Wow. It looks like a really solid Kirby game. I wonder how much of it they had completed when it got canned?

Well in Kirby: All Stars you could make a partner by "sucking" them up and pressing Select I think. That's how you were able to play 2 players on it.
Not a new trick, new trick for the 3D kirby though. :)

Actually, I believe select made Kirby drop his power. I believe it was the A button that would create your "helper" which would be a CPU player unless someone started messing with the second controller. Super Star was always my favorite Kirby game because of the multiplayer / co-op aspect. I would sell my first and third born for this game's release.

Before I saw the video, I was going to refute your claim with opinions of the sort that Kirby Air Ride is an awesome game to play multiplayer (especially City Trial). But now, I'm more inclined to agree with you. I can only hope it works out on the Wii.

Uh...you guys do realise this game's at least 3 years old by now?
I'm pretty sure it was on display at E3 '0....3 or 4. Don't know why it got the axe, but just don't get your hopes up.

Just like how I've been waiting for a worthy follow up of Star Fox 64, I'm waiting for a worthy follow up to Kirby Super Star... and this game might be just that... given that it eventually comes out.
