We know we reported earlier this month that the release could be this April, but Opera's latest press release, along with word on the net, seemed to confirm that March was the month it would happen. Regardless, it looks like the folks at Opera have managed to get all their ducks in a row as the release has been finalized for April. Word around the net also suggests that the browser will no longer be free, but with no official word in the press release, we're left to speculate on that just a little bit longer.
[Thanks, tqt!]

Maybe they're working on every single feature they've been bugged about. Like better Flash and Java support, tabbed browsing, history, and others that certain sites like wiiminder do.

I cant imagine alot of people actually purchasing Opera for the Wii, since most probably already have the free trial version. Unless somehow the trial version disappears or just doesnt work after the release of the opera browser.
I wont be paying for it, therefore Ill stick to the trial version.

According to this IGN article (http://wii.ign.com/articles/774/774994p1.html) the browser will still be free until the end of June and only then will they charge 5$ bucks if you download. If you consider the price of craptastic VC games for the NES or TGFx16 5$ buckaroos is pretty good for an application that let's you surf the net without any whirring cooler noise and even while you sit on your couch. I'd surely get the full version right away and I would even pay for it.
As it seems there's still no tabbed browsing and if you've read the opera forums the Flash issue is entirely Adobe's fault due to licensing troubles.

Hey if they add the bare minimum neccessary features (full screen browsing, tabs, java*, etc etc etc) then hell ya I'd pay $5 for it.

I still wish that we could get Firefox on the Wii instead.

Amen to Firefox on the Wii. It would be great to have a browser that would at least have the potential to evolve as its user base found bugs to squash or features that they wanted to add. Nintendo's probably in a pretty iron-clad contract with Opera, though, so hopefully Opera will give the browser sufficient support and updates.
