So we're all excited about Resident Evil 4 redux, because it's such an awesome game, but what about Umbrella Chronicles? Some people don't seem to be too thrilled about the fact that it's an on-rails shooter. We're all about shooting zombies around here, so we're okay with the idea, though we'd like to get our hands on it before we deliver a final verdict. At this juncture, it's best to say we're tentatively excited, pending more details, video, and images. How about you?

If you want a FPS zombie game joystiq w/ physics and great co-operative surviver gameplay. You guys should take a Look at 'Left 4 Dead', made by the same peeps who made counter strike source (and same engine)
I was hoping this would be a remake of all the games from 0 -3 using the resi evil 4 gameplay engine but its another crap on rails shoote. o'well, now ill have to wait for Resi evil 5.

While many people are very dissappointed that its not a "true" RE game, I think that's blinding people as to how great this game could actually be
My guess is this game will also go underrated in terms of review scores, with every one of them saying "Wait for RE5," or, "This is what Wii gets instead of RE5" or something like that
like that review over at Joystiq, that was just a bitchfest over why the game isn't a traditional RE...

It's not that I'm upset it's not a traditional RE game... I think if that were the case, I think people would have freaked out about the lack of crap-tastic camera angles when RE 4 came out. I'm upset because I played the remake of RE for the gamecube, and I wanted stab someone. Then I played RE4, and I became a huge fan, excited for the next game. While there were people who liked the old RE games, I didn't hear a single complaint about RE4. Why would they change a style that they finally perfected?!

I would definitely not pay full price for this game. $20 bucks maybe.

I use to love the light gun shooter at arcades. I may pick this up, but I rarely buy games at full price. I'll save those purchases for my "must-have" titles.

Oh, P.S., they should really start porting over all those new-school and old-school lightgun and guncon games over to the wii, I don't know about you guys but I'd buy them up in a jiffy.

A Resident Evil without running back and forth looking for items and opening the same doors a dozen times over and over again? Sounds not so bad to me.

I was hoping for a Resi4 style game that isn't Resi4. Chronicles looks like it's going to get old real fast.

I'm actually pretty excited to for 'mansion of the dead' I've always been a huge fan of arcade light gun house of the dead type games. I've always wanted one at home but never went for the light gun, this is the perfect opportunity

This is going to be one of those games that has a huge split between those who love and those who hate. It will still sell well enough. I happen to think that the reason for us getting both this and the RE4 wii-make is so that Capcom is able to gague what the Wii audiance likes better in terms of game play and subsiquent Wii releases will be based off of that.

I agree with Hunter on this one. Capcom will be watching sales for RE4 Wii and Chronicles VERY closely and that will probably let us know what their involvement with the Wii will be.

That'd be a pretty stupid move, though, considering a good portion of current Wii owners have probably already played through RE4 on the Cube. I know I'd much rather have an RE4 styled game, but I'm not rebuying it for the Wii.
I'll rent Chronicles if it sells for more than $30. I'm sure it'll be fun, but I much prefer REmake and RE4 to these kinds of games.

I want so very badly for this to be a not-on-rails shooter. If they decide to take the "traditional" path (think HotD 2), with "levels" and little interaction that doesn't involve shooting things, I think I'll pass or just rent it. My favorite part of RE4 is hunting for secrets and leveling my arsenal. If I can't do that... well, we'll just have to wait and see.
That said, I'll probably pick up the RE4 remake, if there's not a ton of other things taking up my time when they release it, and if it includes the PS2 bonus content.
