IGN got the skinny on the upcoming installment in the Guitar Hero franchise, Guitar Hero 3. Most importantly, they discussed the Wii version with RedOctane's co-founder and president Kai Huang. Huang confirms that the Nintendo Wii version of the game will in fact use a Guitar controller, one that will be "similar to a guitar you've seen in the past." There is more exciting news, however, as Huang confirmed that the Wii version of the title would be seeing improvements the other console installments would be receiving: online play and downloadable music.
That's right, online play.

Now that the Wii version is justified it means I have to buy two more expensive controllers...and I thought my purchase in the PS2 version of GHII was okay for the next few years.

Maybe they'll make it an attachment for the wiimote and a place to slide the wiimote in back, or something.

DLC? orly?
but seriously... I'm still miffed about no ext hdd support for wii. Between the Nintendo 64 VC titles and new channels coming, I can't fathom where we'll find the space to put in new songs which will clock in at at least 5 mb each.
I'm just whiny cause Nintendo is holding the Wii back

@ Andrew
especially considering Wii IS technically capable of running AT LEAST 540p (which is almost the same as 1080i) without breaking a sweat
Of course, it's not the first time Nintendo's held back hardware (see: GameCube Online)

@Andrew, you can get a 2 gig SD card on eBay right now for less than $20. The 1 gigs are less than $10.

I'm hoping for a Flying V for the Wii. Xbox360 got an Explorer. It only makes sense.

If they decide to use the GameCube controller port for the guitar, you could get the PlayCube converter, to use PlayStation/2 controllers on GameCube.

Good news. I play bass in a band but this game really looks like a lot of fun. I look forward to getting some hands on time.

Agent: the 360 version will have *exorbitant* downloadable songs, if GH3 is anything like GH2. I hold out hope that the Wii DLC will be a bit more reasonably priced. And if you can keep the songs on an SD card, we're all set.
