We know that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will use the Wii's Forecast Channel for seasonal effects in the upcoming game, and we know that multiple control styles will be available, but we hadn't seen much of the look of the game beyond a few scans. Now, all that's changed; official screenshots have finally been released, and you can stare and drool to your heart's content. Just try not to get it on the keyboard.

Will it also feature the current weather from 12 hours ago like the Forecast Channel does? ;)

I still want to know if it's on rails or true 3d. True 3d I'd guess would kill this game, so pleeeease just focus on making it fun, even if you can't see the pores in NiGHTS' face!

Games like these will be the ones that show just what the Wii can do, visually.

As much as I am anticipating this game you can't call those graphics 'great'. I've seen Cube games surpass those, actually.

I think, the "on the rails" idea would be the easy way out. It would ground the game and easily make it succesful, but not great.
If they were to take a freeform true-3d approach, and do it well, it would truely make this game one of the greats for this system. It would take some "outside the box" thinking and a fairly consistent ideaology in it's overall design and restructuring. Being that they already announced "multiple control schemes" I don't think the latter is going to come to fruition - which is dissapointing. But until there's a copy on the shelves at my local walmart, I'm going to take every report with a grain of salt.

To further my point, I think if you did it properly, you could make a game like this game so that people will report "losing their balance" playing the game. With the right control scheme, it'd be easy to give a very surreal sense of falling and gliding.

I am not sure if any of you heard but Graphics are not the major goal with the Wii. Its all about game play and having fun. This is always how it will be. Some of the people out there are still just waiting for some secret video chip to turn on in your wii and amazing graphics will start to emerge. This is not the case. I am not bashing Nintendo for this choice at all. The wii is my favorite console that i own. You look at some of the VC games out there and they are just as fun as ever with graphics that rival a tandy 1000 computer. Its always going to be about game play before graphics.... always.

It looks pretty and all, but I still haven't seen what the game is actually *about*. I never owned any Sega systems, so I didn't get to play the original...

Which is not much. Seriously, those shots could be from a PS2 game and nobody would raise an eyebrow.
Does any of the current Wii titles look better than God of War II? Zelda surely doesn't.
