Not sure if you guys have heard about this, since it doesn't really get much press, but apparently it's been hard to purchase Wii systems in stores. We know-- we're surprised too, but it seems that Nintendo's supply hasn't been sufficient to meet demand. In a statement given to GamesIndustry.biz, a Nintendo representative said that they are (finally) going to increase global production, with a goal of producing 14 million systems in this fiscal year. Hopefully they don't all end up in Japan! If this bears out, and Nintendo finally does get around to speeding up production, this may mean the end of availability as we know them.

That would put them at 20 million on March 31st, 2008. It took the 360 17 months to get just under 10 million, so I don't think they can sell another 10 million in 12 months to keep up. The Wii is passing the 360 within the next 6 months.

I don't think that's enough. Supossively in the same fiscal year, SSBB, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3 are all releasing. not to mention the 3rd party games like RE4 (it will sale big, I garantee it)

I was at Best Buy and the fellow said they had some in the back if I wanted one... but darn it I was hoping to get a Costco bundle with some extra games or controller do hicky — they've had the Sony in regular stock now for the last two months....
Toys R Us had some this morning when we stopped in to buy B-day present, that didn't last very long.... instead we bought an arm load of Littlest Pet Shop toys that where on super sale....a big bin, and people where diving in like made, buying for next Xmas....
So we went to the park with the kids and enjoyed the sun and played outside, got some vitamin D and lowered our risk of cancer...and it was free :o)
