Although, according to Satoru Iwata, we won't be hearing anything specific on these games until the end of Summer, it's still great news to hear about so many games being developed for the system, especially from Nintendo themselves. This news, which comes from a press conference held by the company in Tokyo today, shows that Nintendo is committed to making sure that there are no long dry spells when it comes to software on the console.

Now if only we could get some third party support, and no more games based on third rate disney movies, or ports.

Sounds like we're gonna have a minimum of 45 kickass games on the Wii in the next few years then.
Not alot, but more than the GC, thats for sure.
Third Party developers need to get working with quality, and not quantity, in mind.

The number sounds high, but the real question is how many of those 45 are real games and how many are cheap-o mass market toys.
As long as F-Zero and Star Fox are somewhere in there, I'm good.

Since the Wii is selling so well into the 'causual/non gamer' crowd, I wonder what kinds of software sales we'll be seeing. I'm honestly a little worried about 3rd party support, just because it seems like a lot of 3rd parties are seeing Wii sales figures and jumping on the bandwagon, and I'm afraid many of them will slap something lousy together to cash in.
It won't take a casual gamer very many bad $40-$50 game purchases to go back to being a non-gamer...

I totally agree Frank, although a little friendly multiplayer Metroid wouldn't hurt either.

Miyamoto is now number one on the Time 100. Let's help the creator of Wii stay number one. The number of games is huge!

No, he's tied with Steven Colbert for now, but drastically behind in votes
(who IS this Rain guy, anyway, a British Musician of some kind?)
On topic: good news, considering that an abundance of excellent first party titles is the reason why i'm a dedicated Nintendo fanboy. Very good.
I've said it before. E3 and possibly E for All are going to see many megatons this year...

Mr. Fletcher: ouch! The truth hurts.
Seriously, I hope he's wrong, but I'm predicting at least 50% to be mass-market targeted, along the lines of Wii Sports/Wii Play, or 4 different versions of Sudoku, or a revamped Duck Hunt, or...
As long as the *other* half of them cater to long-time fans, though, I'll be fine.

Did Nintendo even make 45 games for the GC in its lifetime? The Wii is surpassing the GC summer 2008. This is disgusting. The momentum is ridiculous.

If this is 100% true and we see 45 new games for Wii just from Nintendo before 2010, I would say:
Nintendo = God
I was thinking about the games we know Nintendo is developing and some guesses about the obvious, and I only get around 25 games o.o Yes, Nintendo, I want to be surprised!

It would probably be hard to get Goldeneye 2 because Rare the company who made Goldeneye64 is now owned by Micro$oft.
