Behind Rain, who is a Korean pop star and Stephen Colbert, who is one of the funniest folks on television, Shigeru Miyamoto is currently holding down third place in the race for most influential people of the year, according to Time. We just felt a little reminder was in order, in case you missed our last post informing you of his presence in the race. So, if you haven't gone over there to help Shiggy out, we suggest you do so now.
Do it now, or else
[Thanks, Ben!]

I wonder if they'd put Shiggy and the Wii on the cover if he was number one? Previous years have just had a giant "100" grace the cover - but they should make an exception for this one ;)
PS - Colbert is overrated and I've never heard of Rain. Of course, that's less a result of me being a US citizen and more of a result of me not caring at all about pop music and its lack-luster culture. (I don't know what baby Britney Spears is on, nor do I care who got her pregnant.)

They so should, vidGuy. I'm for it. It would be the best Time cover ever.
But don't hate on Colbert! He's pretty awesome. Maybe not as awesome as Shiggy, but there are levels of awesome, and he comes in near the top.

I enjoy his show but, cmon, the number one most influential person for 2006? Of course, that criticism comes from a guy who would love to see a videogame maker as number one, so take it with a grain of salt ;)
So are we in agreement about the WTF to Rain? :)

Sigh, looks like Dane Cook called in his posse. He's climbing that list.
Miyamoto will make top 10 for sure, but he won't be able to get first or second at this rate. :(
Oh and Miyamoto influenced me into going in the Computer Science field. So he's much more influential than... Colbert... or a Korean pop star.

Colbert is funny but we're speaking of influence here, whilst Colbert has been popular for a few years, Miyamoto has influenced people across the globe for DECADES with Mario, Zelda, etc. He is one of the more deserving people on the list, and he is certainly more deserving of the number one spot than Colbert, no offence to him. So to the pre-teen girls who are voting for rain and the high school kids voting for Colbert, Quit it! Miyamoto forever!

Although I am the one that submitted this; I voted for Bono (the coolest person ever), JK Rowling, and someone else I can't remember, higher than Shiggy.
