A Gamespot reader participated in a focus group about Harmonix's Rock Band, and then, being a civic-minded individual, did the Right Thing and blabbed about it to the Internet. Apparently, he was told by the test administrators that the rhythm game would be coming to the Wii. Don't hyperventilate-- we know the idea of an EA game going multiplatform shatters your worldview, but we will get through this together.Harmonix (developer of the wonderful Frequency and Amplitude, as well as Genuine Cultural Phenomenon Guitar Hero) is considering selling the game, a wireless controller, a microphone, and a drum kit (with a kick pedal) as a bundle. They tested price points of $150, $175, and $200 on the focus group, looking for reactions. Guess which one they preferred?
We don't want to know if you aren't planning on buying this (Harmonix music game = insta-buy for us), but we would like to know which configuration interests you the most. Are you interested in any one instrument in particular? Plan to go in with some friends and form a band? Or are you just going to buy the whole thing yourself?

I think the problem is they are trying to sell a $200 game (with the accessories) that no one has played yet. They're going to have to do some SERIOUS marketing -- allowing people to play it in stores, malls, etc.
But for me... even $150 is far too much to pay for a game. It would to be ONE HELL OF A GAME for me to even consider paying that kinda money.
IF.. and that's a big IF, I were to buy Rockband, the only way I could see myself buying it is 1 instrument at a time. But who knows.. maybe the game will be the most awesome thing we've ever seen.

I think multiple SKUs would be the best way
Rock Band: Guitar Edition, Base Edition, Drum Edition, vocal edition, and premium. Each with the same software, but each coming with a different component (or in premium's case, all of them)
Then just add an Online co-op functionality, and there we go

I'd like to vote for the "None of above" option.
I am not interested at all at Guitar Hero, Drum hero or anything like it.
I already have a guitar, that I dont play. If I wanted to play the guitar, I'd take lessons to play a *real* one.
Chicks dont get impressed by your "mad l337 guitar hero $k1lls". But its not about chicks, its about doing something for quick gratification. Instant-learning.
Sure, the success of Guitar Hero "proves me wrong", but I'd rather spend time learning to play a REAL instrument, like a Bass, Guitar, Drums or even a Harmonica, than play any of these "wanna-be" music games.

@ Nushio I play real guitar. I have for 16 years. That being said I love Guitar Hero. It's no subsitute for the real thing. It's not even close. No reason you can't play the real thing and the fake thing.
As far as the package goes. I'd like to see a variety of choices. I'd like to see as previosly mentioned the game bundled with one of the accesories. So you could get guitar, drums, or mic witht the game. Not everyone will want everything. For the people that do they should offer every instrument and the game at a discounted price versus buying everything seperately .

So far the two weeks I've been playing Guitar Hero 2 have been much more rewarding than that one summer I tried learning the guitar when I was 12. Maybe our garage band would've taken off, who knows? For now I'll just have to rely on 5-starring that Buckethead song to get laid.
If Rock Band comes to the Wii that'd be great. Still no way in hell I'd pay $200 for it.

I can go outside and jump around on mushrooms and find coins in real life, but doing it in a game is fun too...

I will buy this game only, and I mean only, if I can buy it with just the drum peripheral.

Chicks may not be impressed by my guitar hero skillz, but it's still fun :D
I might be interested in the bundle if I don't have to pay for it :D
