Dragon Quest Swords made an appearance at the Square Enix Party over the weekend, and now the official website is updated with new trailers, screens, and wallpapers for your perusal. IGN's Craig Harris got some hands-on time with the demo, and he detailed the combat system (or rather, the portion in the demo) pretty extensively. Harris reports that combat is fun, but maybe a little too simple, and exaggerated moves translate more clearly to on-screen attacks than do simple flicks of the wrist. With two months to go until the game's release in Japan, some of that may change. Check out the brand new trailer after the jump for your own (visual) impressions.

Is there any confirmed online play yet?
The game looks great and I'll probably rent it if theres no online play, but if there is I'll definitely buy it. Can't wait.

What's with all this crap about online play for every game?
How in the world would you do online play with an RPG like this?
VS would be terrible. Just swinging at your screen, and the person with the best armor/weapon would win.
On that note, I'm looking forward to this game. :)

sweeeet! this is where the Wii will excel, in gameplay, not graphics. when a developer knows what the wii can do, and doesn't try to overload it cause it has to make 2 other ports of it on other, more powerful consoles.

Online play would work very well with this game actually. After noting the video it looks like you have to physically try and block attacks by your enemy. It could be very very fun if done right.
Also the whole "deal" behind online games is for replayability. Once you beat a game like this, if there is no online play then why would I keep it? Like I said the game looks amazing but if there is no online play then I'll rent it only.
P.S. Its gotten to the point where online play is becoming a mandatory function behind most action oriented games to add further depth. If Nintendo can add online play into Metroid Prime 3 (still hoping) and Super Smash Bros: Brawl and charge $50 for it then why should I pay $50 for a game with no online playability even if its a game that can suit it?

I must be out of the online thing.
Because, in all honesty, I'd rather have a game with NO online play, and ADDED single player stuff.
Seriously, I hate (note: HATE) getting online with the 360. Nothing but 15 year old kids who cuss up a storm and stuff. It's so childish.
People are seriously annoying in real life, and I play games to help me relax. I don't want to play games to meet the SAME annoying people, only in a virtual world.
that is just me, though.
