For those not compulsively checking the official Smash Bros. website daily for bare snippets of information, we here at Wii Fanboy have decided to perform the service of coalescing tidbits into tidbigs. Over the past week, a few interesting details have surfaced.
Most of the reveals are item-based: you may now move freely with projectile weapons (finally!), and as detailed earlier here, the new "Gooey Bomb" item was unveiled. The most interesting new item, however, is the Smash Ball, which activates character-specific "Final Smash" attacks. Mario's is entitled the "Mario Finale" attack, which unleashes a spread-fire explosion attack, and we've seen Link's Triforce blade attack in an earlier video. Since most competitive Smash Bros. players contend without the randomizing effect of items, it'll be interesting to see if this affects higher-level gameplay.
Also unveiled are some of Pit's (of Kid Icarus fame) attacks, which include a controllable arrow of light and limited flight capabilities (most likely the Up+B special). Brawl looks like it's coming together nicely ... do you guys agree?

The original trailer (I think - maybe the second?) showed Kirby putting on a chef's hat with Mario in a giant pot/cauldron. Since this followed directly after the Mario and Link Final Smashes, I've wondered if this is a similar move.

The wikipedia article for this game makes it seem a little homophobic, or at least derisive.

Todays new item is interesting, the "cracker Launcher" Although it sounds like the game will be using the Classic controller/Gamecube controller: "You can also aim the launcher at different angles by tilting the Control Stick up or down." Hmm interesting...

The nunchuk has a control stick... doesn't discount the GC/CC idea, though.

Yeah the nunchuck does have a control stick, but it says you can move around while holding it which I assume would be done with the nunchuck's control stick...seems weird to have aiming and moving on the same stick.
P.S. there is no need to compulsively check the website, it has an RSS feed!

Don't tell that to hardcore Goldeneye fans! But, yeah, I see what you mean. If they didn't say control stick, I could easily see how it would be done with slight movements of the remote. But wasn't there some info a while back about them using the CC or allowing the GC controller as an option?
I'm okay with that, to be honest. I haven't tried Mortal Kombat on the Wii yet, but that game allows you to use a traditional pad if you want.

Jebus Christ, guys, get with the times - the game is supposed to use the GC controller as its PRIMARY controller - this was stated the day the game was announced for crying out loud.

That whole comment where Sakurai said, "I wouldn't throw away your gamecube controllers" has been taken way out of context
It was basically an offhand comment, although it can be presumed it will at least be optional, i don't see why they wouldn't make a remote/nunchuck scheme, especially since, you know, they want people who never had GC's to buy this too
That's the clincher

Have you looked at the Smash Bros page? If you had, you would know the controller featured in the icons is the Wiimote. Obviously that is the primary controller.

That doesn't mean anything, it could be there just because the game is a Wii game and not a GC game.
TBH, this is the game I want the most, and I really really hope they announce a release date at E3.

unfortunately, E3 isn't really happening this year, at least not like it has in the past... and what is happening isn't going to be until July. But the good news is it will be centralized around Nintendo.
