Well... SSBM favorites are: link, mario and luigi. Heck, I once played with a friend, and I won every match I played with luigi... mario's spike smash is teh cool, also, and link is very well-balanced and powerful, too...

Sad it is, but, as much as I love Mother/EB (PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT THAT SHIRT!!! I got sick of searching for mother/eb shirts, and I did one for myself :P), I never really learnt to master ness in melee... don't they say he got downgraded form Smash64?

But then, maybe i should get another copy of melee and get a wii to get my melee fix on for another six years... or until brawl comes out :D

Here's hoping a lot of mother/eb 3d goodness in brawl!

It really depends on which game in the series. In the original Super Smash Bros, Ness is the obvious favorite just because he's so overpowered and unbalanced. In Super Smash Bros Melee, the fast characters are the most unbalanced, so my character of choice is Fox, but I'll use Sheik if I want a change of pace.

Jigglypuff is pretty good in both games what with that one-hit KO move.

The superior speed, juggling ability, side spike, up spike, incredible manueverability, and general acrobatic ability make her a clear favorite for me.

Yoshi is my second, but Sheik is my clear main.

People that only use Shiek are losers that just spam his smash-moves with the c-stick.
Only real pros know how to balance Sheik and Zelda.

I agree with 19, and it would depend on who im up against for a character im best with samus and link in ssbm but ssb prolly donkey samus or kirby. ive gotten good with a wide variety of characters though.

But i too am good with most of the characters, except Mewtwo (i just never got his move set) and Fox (he's too fast to control with stability, IMO)

Wow! I actually DO use Ness. Here's a tip: be as cheap as possible. That's how Ness works. The air back+A kick works really well...as well as the good ol' baseball bat. Too bad I have absolutely no one to practice against and all my skills have gone down the drain...

I love how everyone thinks they're the best at Smash! We'll see when Brawl online play is out. ;)

I'm not the best at smash, at least not against people

I'm an only child, and usually to lazy to go do things with friends, i learned to play against the computer

I can pwn the computer in almost all circumstances, but i have a lot to learn about fighting real people...

Hopefully online brawl will fix that

link is my favorite in melee. on the original one i used kirby, but he was a lot cheaper then, they've downgraded him for melee, his grab used to be sooo powerful in the original, but now it's weak sauce. i don't know many people who play, or i never play against them, i'm just too busy now. but one of my friends is extremely good with ganondorf, which i'm surprised no one else has mentioned. that's compared to me though.

Cmon guys we all know that ROY is #1 and Samus second I have around 6000 ko's just from Roy and 1800 with samus. I know I'm good at smash but I know I'm gonna get my ass pwned online. I haven't played in a while but when everybody says I'm the best or I'll own evrybody in here but there's always someone better. Let's hope they keep brawl online beating my bros and my frineds and my cousins isn't that fun anymore

Ness is #1!!!!!

I used to be a real Ness master in SSB. What i would do is once i got the target over the side i would wait at the edge while they make there recovery jump. When they got close enough i would jump towards them so i would end up just above the target. Then i would perform a 'Kickdown' (A+ down i think it is, Ness to my knowledge is the only character that is capable of doing this) move. If done correctly it would send the target downwards into oblivion with little to no chance of recovery, even if the target has sustained only minor damage!!!. Of course its not without its pitfalls. Miss time any of the move (& the subsequent recovery jump) and you end up losing a life. But damn when it worked it infuriated the other players. Unfortunately nowadays i find it increasingly difficult to do this manuever.

Of all the characters in SSB the one i hated the most was Pikachu. My brother used him and his favourite move was to chain juggle the target off the screen with his lightning. Pissed me off to no end, especially how cheap and easy it is to do compared to my very risky and difficult Kickdown manuever.

Oh yeah, in the N64 version, I ruled as kirby. His drill attacks and aerial kicks and smash attacks were practically unstoppable.

However in the Melee version for GC, they slowed him down and shortened his reach a bit. That's what prompted my switch to Marth, who is incredibly quick on his attacks, is great for chain attacks and aerial juggles, has EXCELLENT reach, powerful smash attacks, and the counter attack that has pulled me from the jaws of defeat many times over.
