Just as we were talking about the difficulty of scoring Nintendo merchandise, this auction pops up on eBay. With bobblehead figurines of Luigi, Mario, Bowser and Yoshi, we find ourselves wishing we had quicker reflexes, as the auction has already closed. All figurines ended up going to one lucky individual who chose the option to buy it now for the fair price of 39.99 GBP.

I really disagree with the difficulty of finding Official Nintendo merchandise. I think you just need to keep your eyes open to it.
For instance, I scored the same exact Luigi bobble head when they were selling them brand new at GameStop for $10.
In addition, Hot Topic (although I really don't like the store) sells a bunch of Nintendo clothing merchandise. From there I picked out a Nintendo and a Zelda track jacket (the original red race track logo one and the green one with the NES title screen on the back). I also got a pretty sweet Zelda t-shirt with the Winged Triforce logo in the front.
When I was younger, the Nintendo Power catalog was a great place to snab some merchandise. There I got a bunch of plush dolls as well as some clothes and fingurines.
Finally, fast food places like Taco Bell and Wendy's sometimes give away Nintendo toys in there kid's meals. Although most of the time it is crap, sometimes they have a diamond in the rough like a Yoshi figurine.
So yeah, Nintendo does make the merchandise... you just gotta track it down.

Oh yeah! Don't forget preordering games, you can get cool stuff that way. I got a Fox bobble head when I preordered Star Fox Adventures.

There are 4 bobble heads in the collection. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Boswer. I have Mario, Yoshi, and Bowser which I obtained at gamestop a few years back. I don't have the Luigi bobblehead unfortunatley.
By the way, It is actually not that hard to obtain nintendo stuff. Besides what Edwin already listed, there is also the Nintendo World Store in NYC. You can get figurines of Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, and Yoshi for less than 10 bucks. Also, there is a foot tall, very cool looking Mario Figurine on sale there for 200 Bucks the last time I checked. Nintendo World Store also has many clothes avalible there. I got myself some pajama pants :-)

Dude, I got that Mario Bobble head for christmas once, it's cool.
Unfortunately, they seem to have this problem of chipping the paint around the next if you bobble them too hard, be careful.

To be fair, I don't think those bobbleheads are that hard to find... a few years ago, I started a small collection of Nintendo bobbleheads- including all of the above-mentioned figures but Mario, since I already had the Target-exclusive-GameCube-launch Mario bobblehead.
I also have the Target-exclusive StarFox and Donkey Kong (from the StarFox Adventures and Game Boy Advance launches, respectively), The KB Toys Tak (from Tak & The Power of Juju), Crash Bandicoot (from a limited run of 7500) and the admittedly hard-to-find Link from The Wind Waker (which I believe was sold and/or given away at E3 one year).
The only one that I know of that I don't have is the Samus bobblehead from Metroid Prime, which is also pretty hard to find.
Last I checked, the Link figure was selling at around $50 on eBay.
