We love the basic idea behind High School Musical. We think a karaoke game would be a big hit with the "expanded audience" out there in the "blue ocean." If we were the type to perform in front of people rather than hiding in total silence, we'd totally play it.
The major problem with High School Musical is High School Musical. If we're going to be singing in a game, we'd rather not sing material from a Disney made-for-TV movie. We'd rather belt out the theme from Night Trap than whatever was written for High School Musical.
Check the link for some new screens. We hope the game is more exciting than the microphone peripheral!

They could probably make a pretty cool game based on that. Almost an elite beat agents but add singing to it as well. However, looking at the screens for both the ds and the wii version, this may in fact be the ugliest game on the wii.

This game is purely made for the younger generation, and I have to agree using the Disney music only limits its reach. Something more generic would have been a way bigger success in my opinion.

. . . so I guess I'm in the minority here when I say I actually thought High School Musical was pretty -adorable-. But then again, a game based solely on its music would, as said before, probably not be too awesome. Not too mention these, um, graphics, kind of suck.

I don't understand. Didn't the Wiimote have some kind of sensor that recognizes voice (from that CNN article where they took it apart)? Why do we need to add an extra microphone?

The Wii controller has a chip for voice recognition, but there's no actual remote. You'd have to plug it into the remote. Or, in this case, bypass the remote completely and use the USB ports.
This is exactly what we need- encouragement for pre-teen girls to sing songs from a Disney movie in that whiny "keep your mouth closed" tone.
Not that they don't already have a karaoke CD, a version of the movie without lyrics, and a DVD game.
