I usually buy games then hold onto them. Of course, yesterday I traded in most of my PS2 games (my PS2's been broken for a while; it doesn't seem worth repairing/replacing) along with my GBA SP for one of those GameBoy micros. I have to say, the micro is really darn cool. It's a shame it didn't take off, but then again if it had I probably wouldn't have been able to pick up a brand new one for $50.

I keep them. In games I like to hold onto everything. Every item and loot I at least like to keep one for perfectionist purposes.

Although I probably only play through a game once, I keep the games after... Something about reselling a game after use is quite unappealing to me, though I don't think you should pick up preowned cases of Dead or Alive Extreme... ... Trust me on that one.

Like others, I too find issue in selling games back. Even though I rarely pick up a game once I've beaten it, I still find it worth keeping if for no other reason than to expand my game collection. However, I did get a gamefly account recently and haven't been buying as many games (if for no reason other than I haven't seen many games actually worth buying).

I thought this was asking about in game gear?
If thats the case, I usually try to keep as much as possible. Especially unique items. Back in the Dreamcast days, I was hooked on PSO. I had a huge cache of collected weapons spread over several characters. Got kind of ridiculous.

That damn salesman. The first time I saw him open his coat, I thought he was flashing me. ^_^
I'm notoriously bad at trading in games, but that's probably because I go through a great deal of deliberation before picking up a game I'm not familiar with. Even after I beat a game as much as it can be beaten, the possibility of playing through it again keeps me from letting go. The only one I can remember selling back is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, for what should be obvious reasons.

I've been playing Trauma Center Second Opinion (awesome game, I'm at chapter 3), and if all goes well, I should get either Res Evil 4 (Wii), or Super Paper Mario.

I'm always afraid that if i sell it; i'll want it later, and be unable to easily retrieve it (without paying again)
The only games i ever sold were Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (because i HATED it), and original Pokemon Stadium (because Stadium 2 could do all that and more)
In games i have odd habits of wanting to acquire items that i know i won't use, and i also horde money that i know i won't need to spend (example: In pokemon Pearl i have about 220,000 money, but i'd still rather walk out of a dungeon rather than use an escape rope)
In PSO GC, i was obsessed with getting the most esoteric (and in many cases hacked and illegal) items, a quest which got me banned twice, but in that game it was easy to part with rare items in trade, because i always made copies using the shop-dupe glitch

I dont usually trade in stuff unless its a game or game console I really dont want anymore, like my ps1 and a few Gc games before I got the Wii. Havent gotten rid of the ps1 yet though. Im writing this from my Wii i hope it works.

I trade in everything after I've beaten it. Since I've bought a Wii, I've packed up all my Xbox stuff and have it sitting in a big when I make time to eBay it. The only system I've gone back to again is the NES a couple years ago, but with the Virtual Console, that seems unnecessary.
I just beat Zelda: Twilight Princess a few days ago, too. Gonna have to prep the eBay packing materials.
