VC Tuesday: Hey, an RPG!
This week's Japanese Virtual Console update brings something very rare to the Wii: a role-playing game. And by Capcom's Breath of Fire II is a pretty good one. Also available are a fossilized Konami classic, the sequel to one of the weirdest game concepts ever to become a mainstream hit, and a bizarre first-person space adventure of some kind-- we can't tell if Silent Debuggers is an action game or a graphical text adventure. Anyone out there play the US release on the Turbografx-16?

Just about any of the SNES RPGs are instant buys for me. I've never played BoF2, so it'll be first on my list.

Silent Debuggers was the balls. I actually have it for my Turbo and it was hilariously awesome...but bad. Basically, it was the first level of Halo - you're in a ship full of tunnels, and you meander aimlessly through the tunnels in search of Aliens, which certainly were ripped right from the feature film.
It is an action game, not a text-based game. In fairness, I was just a wee little lad when it came out, so, it's been a number of years since I last played.

Silent Debuggers was one of my favorite TG-16 games! I am very excited about even the *slightest* possibility of it coming to the US on the VC.
In short, it is an Aliens-inspired bug hunt. You wander around corridors with a motion detector that beeps with increasing frequency to let you know how close the aliens are. It can get pretty frantic, especially if the aliens destroy the lights. Think Doom crossed with Wizardry.

I've been dying for a good SNES RPG, and BoF2 is a great one. I'll buy it as soon as it's available in North America. Which bloody well better be next Monday.

One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was selling my GBA-copy of BoF2. Now it's hard to find anywhere or it's too expensive (at least here in Germany).
A VC release would be a good oppurtunity to get it back. I loved that game.

BoF2 was great, but has BoF1 even come out yet over there? I definitely prefer the first one. Kind of odd that they'd release BoF2 first.
