Mario Party 8 fastest-selling game in the franchise
Eight time's a charm, apparently, as Nintendo was quick to serve up a piping-hot press release tooting their own horn, declaring that Mario Party 8 is the fastest-selling entry in the series. In little over a month since its May 29th release in the United States, the title has sold over 550,000 copies. Nintendo's George Harrison sees this as a victory for both the franchise and Nintendo's new console, stating the "overwhelming response not only reminds us how much fans absolutely love the Mario Party franchise but also proves the unmatched ability of the Wii system to attract new players."

Listen to 3.
It's true. If you DONT like Mario Party, then it will suck.
If you play by yourself it will suck.
If you have friends over, it will NOT suck.

I went and got it on its launch day. That turned out to be quite a disappointment for me. It just didn't feel like the same old Mario Party I remember from back in the N64 days.
It's not the single worst game I currently own on Wii - that would be Super Swing Golf, which is just way too complicated to be accessible, fast, or fun - but please. Rent it first.

Well, as I said, I was disappointed by the slow pace and clunky interface. It should have been much simpler to just pick up and play.
I also have no interest in special moves in a golf game. Obstacles? Minigolf courses? Trick shots between trees? Sure. But don't try to come up with a storyline.
What can I say, Wii Sports spoiled me..

great, that only reconfirms that the Wii is perfect for less than mediocre casual party games

got it launch day. usually play it with my girlfriend two or three times a week (she's a mario party fan). we always have a lot of fun with it, and i like it more than any of the gamecube incarnations. also: it's really fun to play drinking games to the wii version.
