I camped for 6 hours to get mine on launch day. I haven't seen one in stores, ever. I have seen plenty of people in lines everytime a store gets a shipment, though.

I sent you that article after reading it on the Wii. You'd be amazed what video game articles from the mainstream are available on the News Channel. I got it before Mother's Day to help my family over the holiday week.

I got one for my graduation last month, although it was my aunt's boyfriend who got it...well, it was a bundle (came with MK Armageddon, Tiger Woods 07 and NFS Carbon). Apparently he had no problem finding it.

I'm not having trouble finding a Wii, I'm just having trouble finding a reason to play it. I picked one up during the Thanksgiving rush, beat Zelda, and that was about it. Super Paper Mario was nice, but I still kinda regret paying $50 for the amount of gameplay it has. Everything I've tried seems to either be gimmicky/crappy controls that makes it unplayable or nothing but minigames.

From what I've seen if you're willing to wait at a Target on a Sunday morning when the new Wii shipment comes in you can get one fairly easily, but they never stay on shelves for more than an hour or two tops.
One of my friends managed to snag the last Wii at a Target this last Sunday at 8:30am after someone failed to pick up a unit that had been on hold for them.
As more and better games come out and as more online titles become available I expect the shortage to continue well into the 2007 Holiday Season.

I knew a guy that worked at a place. He nabbed it at midnight, I picked it up at his house that night. He was in line with 2 other people. They got a bunch, but they were all sold out in 12 hours.

I camped outside for mine for 16 hours. Though it was cold, playing ultime frisbee with 8 of your buds in the parking lot for 5 hours is fun. Hell, we even called the urination spot out new "Lake Hylia". Oh, and when people asked what we were doing, we replied "We're Urban Camping. We'll be outside Best Buy for more excitement tomorrow."
I got mine on launch. Best decision.

I just picked my Wii up at Target this past Saturday (just outside Salt Lake City, Utah). I got there 20 minutes before the store opened and was the first person to get one (they got in about 16 or so). When I came back less than two hours later to buy a game and component cables they had two left...
It spent weeks calling around varios Gamestop stores everyday, and had zero luck (they usually get shipments between 10am and 1pm). I finally spoke to a Target employee (manager) and he told me the best way to get one at Target was to come in everyday right at 8am when they open and check if they got any. He told me that really cannot say when they get shipments, but they stock them at night and will usually sell out within a few hours after the store opens. So far, the Wii has been everything that I expected and then some...

There should be an option "I got one, but it wasn't easy"
I thought it was crazy, camping out in front of a store for opening 4 months after this thing came out
Fun though!

Ack_Bak, awesome job grabbing one. I'm glad I didn't have to go through all of that but if I didn't luck out on launch I would have been right there with ya searching high and low for one.
Love on Wii Sports for awhile, especially if you have some non-gamers around. It's great fun. I'd recommend RE4, Tiger Woods, and SSX Blur, along with the obvious games of Super Paper Mario and Twilight Princess, as games to look into right away. Great stuff.

I walked into a retailer at 10:30AM on launch day and bought a console plus Wii Play for the extra controller and minigames. It was no struggle at all. I would have enjoyed the party atmosphere of being on line, but sadly I had to work that day.
It was really hard waiting with the unit tucked under my desk all day!

Before I got one, I saw some at the local Walmart and a pallet of them at Costco...
When I decided to actually grab one a few days later, they were all gone. I went in to Best Buy looking for one (of course there were none) and while asking the resident drone when they came in, how many, etc., the service counter girl came over and announced that one had just been returned. Apparently, some guy got one from his brother and another from his wife for his birthday and brought one back. Checked the packaging, totally untouched. I grabbed it. Haven't seen another one in any store since. This was abut mid-May...

I actually got mine on launch day, waited outside of Kmart where they did this roulette kind of thing, handed out tickets then drew numbers. If that hadn't have worked, I'd have to wait until 6 am at the Walmart next door. I haven't had the problem of not having games that last awhile though. I do tend to have a pretty good attention span though. Graphics could be better on a lot of games, definitely.

I just got my mom one for the holiday, but it took a lot of footwork (read:gasoline) and a good two weeks to get one. my buddy just got his too, but without having just bought his car he wouldn't have been able to get it. Mine? not yet, and I may just wait.
So as of July 6th in the chicagoland area, it's still hard to get one unless you have a car and are willing to travel out to distant suburbs such as Round Lake or Waukegan. that or get a jacked up ebay unit.
Nintendo should have some online reservation system so the people who don't have one yet but want one can get 'em. it's pretty absurd that it's still unavailable to those who still want em.

Lots down here. Of course I don't look anymore since I was able to walk in on a TRU on a Monday morning (about 1030 am) and walk out 5 minutes later with a console and leaving about 10+ sitting on the shelves.
Oh, this was about a month ago.

I got mine on launch, as well. And camping in front of a WalMart in the cold, concrete hell that is Toronto (Canada) was not fun. Thankfully, sleeping bags and a 24 hour Tim Hortons nearby helped.
Also, I, for one, am pretty satisfied with the game library so far. I mean, yes, it was slow going for a while there (read: first half of 2007) but now between RE4, Twilight Princess, Wario Ware, Trauma Centre, Super Paper Mario, and Pokemon Battle Revolution, I'm quite happy.
My friend and I camped out at the WalMart, so we both got one on the same day, but I have heard of people having trouble getting their hands on one up here in Toronto. In EB Games yesterday (finally picked up Planet Puzzle League) I saw a young couple picking up their Wii, which they had preordered/reserved/whatever. Apparently that store couldn't keep them on the shelves either...

I didn't have enough money for a Wii until a couple of weeks ago...since I'm still a youngling and all (Plus, I already had a 360, and 15 games)...But once I had enough money for it, I had no trouble finding one, I just had to wait for the next shipment, and I scored at Best Buy.

I just picked up a Wii at Gamespot. I checked 10 stores in the metro Grand Rapids, MI area yesterday and they were all out. Gamespot said to call today - I did, they had 9 delivered and one left after two hours. Still damn hard to get here.

I bought one off eBay opening week for a $50 premium and had it ever since. I keep checking for my little brother and have not seen one since.
This is in Wake Forest, NC, and Lawrence, KS. usually at Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target are where I normally look.
