We talked about this a little a few months back, but now that we've seen that a waggle-port can be done quite well thanks to Resident Evil 4, we thought it might be a good time to revisit this topic. Are you a little more inclined to be curious about ports with new controls now? And since you know there will be ports, what would you like to see redone for the Wii? What games do you think could really benefit from the addition of motion-sensitive controls?Wii Warm Up: Acceptable ports

I'm okay with ports as long as they are done well, come in at a bargain price of $30 or less, and are not the only offering from a developer. I love RE4 on the Wii, but I traded in my GC copy and a few other games to get the game almost for "free". I would have struggled paying $30 for it since I've already played through several times... but the controls are just so on I had to get it.
Almost any game with an aiming reticule would play a lot better on the Wii, but I'd hestitate to throw just anything at the console. I don't want to pay $30 for a Wii-enabled version of Wind Waker, for example.
Ports are okay, but I'm focusing my money on full-length original titles. I'm supporting 3rd parties, too, in their best offerings. This system has too much potential to become PoRT-and-miniGame central.

Wink Waker and Okami I would rebuy in a heartbeat.
I would probably give the Metroid games another shot, too, even though I don't like FPS games.

Metroid Prime and MP2:E just aren't going to cut it anymore once people get used to the control scheme of MP3:C. So I wouldn't mind seeing them ported, but I would prefer to see some sort of collector edition on the next Wii with HD graphics.

I'm really against all previous-gen ports. Wasn't the whole point of the Wii to be about new games? If all we're going to get is old games, then isn't that an enormous step backwards.
RE4: Wii Edition is an amazing game, but I bought the original a few years ago and I'm not going to buy it again, it's certainly no substitute for RE5. I fear its success just means more developers are going to fob us off with these cheap, lazy.....(must I say it?)...."waggle ports" and give the new proper next-gen games to the other consoles.

Perfect Dark, w/ beefed up graphics and online
multi-player (don't forget waggling) would be nice.
Heck I'd pay fifty bucks for that...
Mario Kart arcade wouldn't be bad either.

Mario Kart 64 using Wii controls.
A for Acceleration, B for brake, 1 for fire and 2 for jumping and sliding. Dpad handles all camera and display options. Steer using Wiimote.
Really, it should only be $10 with those features.
Oh, I'd also love to see Turok from N64(the original one, not the sequel) for the Wii.
The joystick on the nunchuck would allow you to do the walk run thing without having to press a button.
You could tilt the nunchuck to turn(tilt left or right to turn, up or down to look up or down) the joystick handles all the actual walking.
Wiimote handles the pointing. B button is the trigger and A button handles jumping.
+pad can be mapped with favorite weapons, and + and - buttons handle cycling through the full list of weapons.
1 button pulls up the map, 2 button pulls up the start menu.
Oh, and when you've switched to using the knife, the motion controls are used for the wiimote instead of the pointer.
I'd like to see a Zelda Wiipack, with ports of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and even Windwaker all with Twilight Princess style controls. Having all 3 as a set would make it worth an actual reasonable amount, maybe up around $30-40 since the N64 games are typically $10 on the VC, Gamecube games could go for $12 and call it $3 - 5 extra for implementing the Wiimote controls on everything.
However, I would like to see them include the Master Quest version of OoT that was done for Gamecube, with the harder dungeons.
I'd love to see something like Wii Quest (Does anyone remember Quest 64?) I loved the battle system in that game and I think you could do some really awesome stuff if you adapted that to a multiplayer game using the Wiimote. Add in updated graphics and a more Wii-interactive spellcasting techniques. Maybe flesh it out so you could play as something other than just Brian, the wizard. Maybe make the Princess from the one town playable, and also make that one other mage that was all dressed up a playable character too.
I don't really want to see a port of Smash bros Melee, but I wouldn't mind having it adapted so you could at least play the game without having to dig out the Gamecube controls.
Joystick on Nunchuck is joystick on GC controller
A button is regular attack, Z button is block, c button is jump. 1 button can be taunt.
Still, there is the slight problem of how the gamecube's shoulder buttons are pressure sensitive, while the Wiimote and Nunchuck are not. my only suggestion is have the block intensity react to the angle of the wiimote, so that if your hands are down, it drains faster, if your hands are up(defending) it goes slower.
Actually, that might be an awesome idea, is having the block mapped to the motion of the Wiimote instead of a button. Bringing the nunchuck up is block, and then jerking the wiimote left, right, up or down allow you to dodge.
Um... okay... I basically ran through every game I liked from N64 and Gamecube...
Ohh! Mario Paint! Come on, I could finally sell that silly SNES mouse that I have, that can't be used for anything else. :P

I mean, come on, you already did NiGHTS for us...
I'd say a port is acceptable if you actually make a good control scheme for it and bother to upgrade the graphics. No direct ports, i want upgrades...

I totally agree with MP (and by extension MP:2) would be awesome if they dropped a Wii version with updated controls before MP:3 comes out...alas, this does not look likely to happen.
Pikmin would be sweet as well...any word on a Pikmin 3 for the Wii? i would love to be able to actually throw them...

I would like to see a port of second sight on the Wii. It was a great game on the Gamecube that I don't think enough people played. It had a great story, and great gameplay that could be even better on the Wii.

Don't forget that the huge thing about the Wii is that it brought a whole new set of people to the console gaming world. Before the Wii, I only played PC point-and-click adventures, and I thought I would never ever buy a console. Ports or not ports, all this stuff is new to me. I say keep'em coming!
