First!
Anyway, I'd definitely like chat (including in-game) for my Wii, but with the Friend Code system and the unfortunate keyboard system (at the moment) I don't really see this happening.
E-mails will do for now, won't they?

It's meant as a joke... but it's actually not a horrible idea...

^agree on the joke part but it is a horrible idea, the sound quality of those tiny speakers would be dreadful for listening to voices.
Seriously wish Nintendo would announce some sort of plans for voice comms though, pretty much essential for online play IMO as it's an empty experience without them.

Typing is a pain in the ass with the Remote, so until they build in microphone support (I wish they had included a mic in the Remote's design, but alas), I would (100% seriously) love a Semaphore Channel.

You never know, what if this whole time that speaker doubles as a mic?
Similarly, since it uses bluetooth, why not allow us to use a bluetooth headset, and for the HDD, the same thing should apply, if they don't want to create their own, let us use our own

There was some news a while back that the remote includes a microphone processing unit to do the work after receiving a mic signal. Hopefully it will be used sometime soon.

Semaphore requires no sound. It's a method of communication by waving two flags/beacons/whatever.

If they introduce any kind of voice chat, god forbid if the allow random people to use it, restrict them to text chat at the most
random voice chat really ruins LIVE for me on the few times i play it, I'd rather go through online play without being called a "nancy ass bitch boy" thank you very much
Good job on the insane idea

Thats pretty funny, i personally see TTC as a very sensible solution, or Text Translated Chat, where their voice gets turned to text to see the curse words, bleeps them out and sally sue doesnt hear "You have a gay bitch mother" instead she hears "You have a *** ***** mother"

Ok, just so you know, Semaphone is that type of communication that involves waving flags into differant positions to make letters. The joke is useing the Wiimote and nunchuck to replicate it...not voice chat. That wouldn't be a very funny joke now, would it?
Anyway, a Warioware minigame based on Semaphone would be quite good, methinks! As a commucation tool? I think not.
