When news broke that Wii owners would be able to partake in the entire Lego Star Wars experience, complete in one nicely-bundled package, many probably wondered if some waggle would be making its way into using the lightsaber. Turns out, it is, but it won't be as influential as you think.
According to CVG, the game will still use button presses to initiate most moves, however, through the use of the Wiimote's motion-sensitivity, players can pump up their powers. For example, players can construct objects from the loose bricks permeating the game world faster by moving the Wiimote up and down. It might not be what gamers are hoping for, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

I agree with Chris J.
Looks like this is yet another shitty port that barely makes use of the Wii's controls.
How hard would it have been to at least add Twilight Princess style controls to this?
Lazy port = I won't buy it.
Which is too bad, because I would have bought this game if they had bothered trying.

Ok so this is what happens when you get third hand info (Wii fanboy - CVG - Gamespy exclusive). If you read the actual preview from Gamespy they say that you have the option to press the button to swing or to swing the remote and according to them the swinging is more responsive than button presses. They actually have a lot of good things to say about the controls, but the other game sites that have not played it themselves have decided to spin it negatively.

So, David, are you going to delete that obvious spam?? :-)
Also, you said "at least it's a step in the right direction." I couldn't disagree more. I think it's another step in the WRONG direction. The problem with these crappy ports is that they're barely utilizing the Wii controls. They throw a couple waggle controls in (which, let's be honest, was kind of cool when they first started doing it, but the waggle is now a complete joke) and then slap a Wii sticker on it.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Nintendo fan, and will probably always buy their console first for as long as they continue to make them, but doesn't this completely go against what Nintendo was trying to do? Codename Revolution... Nintendo has always been about revolutionizing the industry, but allowing these crappy ports is everything that's wrong with the gaming industry. If there's anyone who should NOT be allowing this, it's Nintendo.
-end rant-
