Look at you now, wheezing while just keeping pace with an obese plumber. You make us sick.We're not sure whose idea it was to pit these two rivals against each other in a footrace, but they're to blame for our harsh words with Sega's mascot. Four new screenshots showing off Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games have been unveiled and dropped into our gallery below. Though this image of our favorite hedgehog lagging behind in a sprint event is downright deplorable, we were happy to see Luigi's arms thrust up in victory for a change.

Sonic will be faster than Mario, of course, but it will be like how Bowser's top speed is higher than Yoshi's in Mario Kart, not like how gaming lore would have it, the speed of a fighter jet vs a short Italian-American man

Without springs, ramps and his spin-charge, Sonic is actually pretty slow. Mario reaches his top speed pretty fast, Sonic takes ages to gain momentum. If there were any hills on the track Sonic would be mega-screwed, he can't walk up a hill to save himself!

Sonic. Oh Sonic. How I missed you on the Genesis. Well until the Virtual Console. But Sonic and Mario do not deserve to be treated like this. I think everyone on Wiifanboy remembers the "Top 10 Mario Sellouts" well if I made it, this would be added. Yes it is made by Nintendo and Sega (I hope) but this game can't be good. It is just a spin off to make money. If Sonic and Mario raced sure Sonic would win. But as soon as it's a game they are about the same. Well I have been against this game since I heard of it. So if it sucks, I will just say I told you so.

What I want to know is will this game be WiFi? If not then it'll be a huge missed opportunity IMO. I'll be buying if there's online play which could make this game a classic!, otherwise it'll sadly be another Wii title scrubbed off my preorder list.

i was thinking how unfair of a race it was, but accidental had a good point, and if you play the old sonic games you will see too... sonic is not any faster without spin-dash or springs and hills than mario is when you hold down b and run... and sonic is pretty slow uphill if you don't have momentum...
this game might be fun to play, i remember a few old "olympic games" type games on the NES and genesis being pretty fun, my personal favorite being Caveman Games on the NES... good times...

It's almost as if unbalancing would the game would be too much and then the game would suck. There's a difference in SSBM because, sure, bowser is stronger than Fox but its fun to see them fight.
