When Reggie took the stage to try out Wii Fit, he received a less than ideal BMI. He quipped that muscle weighs more than fat -- a comment to which Miyamoto responded, "Good excuse."

Very cool. That much of a 'game' but a neat idea. We can always expect these kinds of things from Miyamoto.
I'm so stoked for this holiday season. Great games coming.

Miyamoto says he's "more excited about this game than any other"
A deeply depressing indication of Nintendo's current direction.

i think it's a pretty sweet idea. i'm excited for it.
i'm also really excited for all the other games that could use the balance board (surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, etc.)

oh yeah, that's true. The other games that could use this! The board rocks, and it will be a hardcore extra input interface that no one else would have thought up.

Let's see.... this pad can measure weight and differentiate between the amount of pressure on different points on the pad. Let's try to think about how many other peripherals can do this.
um... I'm coming up with 0. The DDR pad is just a series of on-off switches. This has at least as much potential as the wii-mote. Kinda makes you wonder what the Madden 09 interface will look like.

i know! imagine the next wario ware! Imagine if they made it compatable with most games, and you could walk by walking and turn by pivoting...the possibilities are ridiculous.

I was hoping for a lot more from Nintendo this year. Seemed all they did was try to reassure us they weren't running out of ideas with what the Wii remotes are capable of; then they take a complete 180 and start focus on a new control type. They say it is based on the success of Wii Sports and how people are using it for fitness but that game is successful because you don't think of it as true exercise but playing games/sports that just happen to get you active. I do see the potential in using the Wii Fit pad for other games but this title just comes off as a Nintendo version of Yourself!Fitness. The most disappointing thing is that every title announced, I already knew about.

I'll wait for more details, but I think this controller could be fun. All future SSX, Tony Hawk, and other "stand on a board" games should be written for this controller.
Will the "center of gravity" translate to joystick directional controls?
It will be interesting to see how well it works on carpet. How durable is it? Can it withstand people jumping up and down on it?
How much will it cost? If it's not attached to the Wiimote then it must contain all the Bluetooth circuitry, which adds cost - which lowers the number of people willing to buy it, which lowers developers' incentive to develop for it.

Oh, and while N's introducing new controllers... How about a freakin' KEYBOARD!? Or at least a Wii update to support existing Bluetooth keyboards.

Did they give a release date for Wii Fit? My boss has been saying that they need something like this for weeks nonstop and she wants to know when it's coming out.

See, before everyone gets depressed, what we saw at the press conference apperas to be just one aspect of what the game's about. We saw a couple of games where you use the balance to move balls around on mazes and so on. So it's not all about doing yoga but looks like it's going to have some fun balance based games and so on.
The big thing is the board, I hope they have a price and a weight limit by the end of the day though, or i'm going to be worried.

"Waggle control is a gimmick. It'll become standard on the new true Hi-Def Next-Gen and then Nintendo will be out of the market."
To that end Nintendo has used the accelerometers in their wiimotes and put them into a board completing the entire body motion control without the necessity of a suit. Nintendo has reinvented controllers not even into the springing of the new generation.
