Nintendo Wii Fanboy

I really liked Animal Crossing and I really like the Sims. So if EA is willing to combine the 2 games into something that looks interesting, I'll give it a whorl. I might treat it like a car and wait till I find it used, but I will still try it.

IGN is a dying site/publication that's getting more out of touch with it's core audience. Between Matt's wild/pyscotic claims of playing Halo DS(didn't he say that he was going to bring out proof by E3?)and huge disparity with reviews and previews compared to others in the industry the have lost a lot of credibility in the industry!!!

tiamat1990, how do you know if you haven't played it? Admittedly it does look awesome – especially for Animal Crossing fans – but AC has a very refined 'soul' that really makes the game what it is, if MySims doesn't have that then it will feel like a knock-off.

With a game of this style there isn't much of a goal, think of playing it as kinda like 'getting to know someone'. With AC that 'person' is very likable and genuine. With MySims that 'person' might look cool but when you get to know them they're really quite shallow and faking it.

I guess we'll find out when we play it.

Yeah, "hardcore" gamers won't like it because it's on the Wii, that immasculating device that carries games that you can play with your FAMILY? *GASP* Shun your eyes! Hurry to your $600 George Foreman grills and play any one of your games that makes you feel like a man. Oh that's right, that's ALL of your games. Oh yeah, and shouldn't "hardcore" imply dedication? Like buying a console from a company that not only has been churning out hits for 20+ years, but is STILL revolutionary? Wait, that's not dedication, that's COMMON SENSE! Or you could buy from a company that has been making game machines for 6 or 7 years? Don't get me wrong, I like games that are now considered "hardcore," but only when they're good.

The writer, Dan Adams, is from their PC sub-site. He needs to go back to his FPS games and let the regulars handle the Wii games.

it's funny how "hardcore gamer" has been commandeered and now means "more of the same FPS bullshit".

newsflash: copycat games designed for a specific target market are NOT hardcore.

Alisha, you are really hitting the nail on the head lately. Hardcore gamers are slagging on Nintendo for new releases that fall outside the traditional boundary of gaming -- but, at the same time, they're celebrating that exact same thing in Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which are totally comprised of peripheral-based minigames. Why is there such a double standard? I think it's because young male gamers feel threatened by anything that targets a broader audience, but I would love to hear your explore this topic in another post.

whats with the IGN bashing as of late, they are very

good at what they do and I go to them when its time to

read a review on a game because they are not bias to the

games just because its on wii, and acknowledge the good

and bad things about the system. you can't claim IGN

thinks cute is not equal to hardcore other wise they

wouldn't be pushing zack and wiki as hard as they are.

and as you said IGN never said the game wasn't fun. and

contrary to what you said, the the very qoute you took

from the preview says its "not likely" not that it

won't. I consider myself a hardcore gamer and while the

game may be good, its not something that appeals to me

because it does not fit my taste in gaming, that is what

IGN meant. it seems to me like you just took the first

chance you got to take a stab it them.

and for your information it was IGN who ask Miyamoto-san

when we can expect animal crossing on the wii, and asked

questions that I for one really wanted to get answers to.

if you are going to read there previews looking for

faults maybe you should watch there interviews too.

your article headline and your writing with in it completely takes IGN's preview out of context. and to all who blasted ign try reading that preview first and see that your auto defense of the game is not needed.

IGN.."good at what they do"... please. that place has been on a slide since it merged w Gamespy and now that Perry is gone its lost its way. Hard for them to take that real gamers love the Wii and that Sony's reign is over...

ok your opinion about ign is yours. now how about you go read IGN's preview. and tell me she did not twist one sentence into an out right bash fest. my whole point is that dispite wether you, Alisha or anyone does or does not like IGN. it is outright wrong to blatantly lie about what they write to purposely start a flame war about them.and even more so for alisha seening as how she is a journalist herself.

I have to agree - I think the IGN article was largely positive. I do think that their terminal sentence was a little harsh or negative, but overall the folks at IGN are pegging the game as a cute, unique alternative to other sim games. I don't think they're quite as excited as other folks are about the game, but I remember hearing virtually nothing about Animal Crossing before it came out. Now its considered one of the greatest Gamecube games of all time.
