Yesterday, the air was filled with wanton speculation about potential uses for the Wii Balance Board that will be packaged with Wii Fit. Now we're looking to get all those ideas down in one place -- specifically, here. We've heard some things already, like surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding sims, and maybe for boxing games, but what else can you think of? Feel free to be both outrageous and creative. Also, are you interested in trying out something like surfing with an interface like this?Wii Warm Up: Surfin, skatin, potential heartbreakin with the balance board

I went to an arcade once that had a game with a mat on the floor that you stood on. The game was an on rails first person shooter. Just like nintendo's mat it measured which foot your weight was resting on. In the game you could physically duck or lean to your right or left and your character on screen would duck behind objects or dodge bullets. I can' thelp but think of using the balance board with the zapper. Ducking behind objects and coming back out to blow a zombie's head off.

I'm more interested in how much weight this thing can support first, before I start speculating as to what I'd want to use it for. I'm not a wiry Asian by a long shot. (6'3", 250)

Wii Paint But, then you would need Wii Brushes. You could paint the Mona Lisa on your Wii. Perhaps an infrared key board could be integrated for the Opera browser(that would help ALOT). Someone mentioned a cutting board for Cooking Mama. But, the best use would have to be....
Wiija Board
Use the balance board and the Wiimote to contact the dead!

I was thinking maybe map movement in a FPS with it. Forward, back, strafe left, strafe right...
could work I think.

The game shall be called "Fuck Mii". You lay down on the balance board and make humping motions while your character on-screen makes love to a randomly chosen Mii counter part.
HAHAHA! Why, the whole family'll be in stitches when Dad is having sex with Jesus!

I like the idea of a Track & Field type game using the balance board. Running on the spot in the 100m would be REAL exercise!

I'd be happy with the whole FPS idea, as long as there's some way to calibrate the damn thing. There may be times where I don't want to have to move too terribly much.
The true question remains: will this be compatible with Track & Field for the Virtual Console. Also, how long before people say "screw doing step aerobics! Check out my high score when I use my hands!" Ahh, Power Pad, how I psuedo-miss thee. :)

I posted awhile ago that they should use a Dance-Dance-Revolution type pad to use for the footwork in a sword-fighthing game like Bushido Blade or a Fencing Game. This looks like it could work even better.
I am wondering, and I haven't read yet, if you can have more than one hooked up at a time because that would be the crucial element in making it really work.

Skateboarding and surfing sims would never work because the balance board is to small. It would just be akward pretending to ride a board with your feet that close together.

This would be perfect for the new Waverace-Wii game (Since there was an N64 waverace, there must be a Wii waverace), or a snowmobile racing game, or even a moto-cross game
you hold the wii remote and nunchuck like the handlebars of the jetski, and you stand on the balance board. rotate the wii-remote like the jetski throttle and turn both the remote and numchuck just like handleabars to steer. you can also lean forward or back for jumps or tricks and right and left to lean into turns on the balance board.
If you want to simulate a sit-down jetski just plop a chair on the balance board....

Yes; this would work well for WaveRace
WaveRace is made by Nintendo Software Technology
Nintendo Software Technology WAS making Project Hammer, before it got cancelled supposedly for "something with more appeal"
2+2=Pizza!

Maybe you can use the board in conjunction with the Mario Kart steering wheel. Sit down and press your foot on one side or the other for braking and acceleration.
