Despite E3 being smaller-scale this year, more and more trailers and videos just keep turning up, particularly for games that didn't get a lot of attention amongst the crush of news from higher profile titles. The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night certainly seemed to slip through the cracks, and from the reactions of some of you to the game's announcements, there may not be a lot of love left for the little dragon. Can this one redeem the series? We're not sure about that, but the video is at least worth a watch.More E3 footage turns up: Spyro gameplay action

My girlfriend loved the Spyro series for a good two or three games, but she was bitterly disappointed with the last two. I think the word "wank" came up. Now, after watching that video, it looks like the latest game is more Prince of bloody Persia than Spyro. I don't think I'll bother showing it to her.

The first three games were great.
Ever since then.... ick
They need to stop trying to be cool and go back to what they had before.

you guys do realise the reason the series turned to suck is because insomniac let it go, right?
I loved the first two sequels ( spyro 1 never felt all that great to me after being introduced to the series via spyro 2, which is still my favourite 3d cutesy platformer ) and it was sad letting them go. This looks cartoony and fun, though only graphically- spyro died with the ps1.

The best thing about Krome Studio's handling of the franchise is the art design. Now if only they could make a good game to go with it.
I'm betting this is going to end up like "A New beginning" and the best version will be the 2d platformer mobile phone port.

ALH: I couldn't really care less why the series started to suck. The fact is, the last two were rubbish and this one looks no better.

YES!!
actually the graphics and effects look pretty decent. If this is the best looking 3rd party game I'll be mad. One question though...does spyro not age or is he a little person or dragon or whatever

Like most people here, I considered the original Spyro's to be decent games.
When they first came out on the PS1, they were "Like Mario 64, but even more open", with nice big free roam areas and such.
It kinda fell apart soon afterwards!
