Jack Tretton has some wild notions of what each console can offer consumers, commenting "I think the PS3 is the Surf 'n Turf, the PS2 is your favorite burger restaurant... [Wii] is a lollipop, and I'm too old for lollipops. And the [Xbox 360] I get sick from once in a while because the cook isn't always reliable." Wii is a lollipop? It certainly doesn't look like one and offers content greater than the supposed satisfaction that comes from consuming a lollipop, so we can't exactly understand the analogy. We actually find ourselves liking the analogy one commenter came up with over at Joystiq.

He then followed the above comment with: "PLEASE BUY OUR SYSTEM! OH DEAR GOD PLEASE BUY OUR SYSTEM!"

yeah... nintendo flavored lollipops are great.
its too bad they only come in nintendo flavors. it would be nice to have an epic, or bethesda, or EA lollipop that didnt taste like sour cabbage.

PS3 isn't the surf and turf. It's an overpriced restaurant. That's why nobody wants to buy it, and chefs are starting to take their recipes elsewhere, where people can actually eat.

If the PS3 were a restaurant, they'd be losing more money running the aquarium and flashing neon sign than people are spending on their overpriced tiny dinner.

howmany licks does it take to get to the center of a wii?
nintendo is more like a shish kabob. it's fun to eat and offers many different things for a good price.
xbox 360 is spaghetti. yes, it's good, but everyone orders it, but it's a little played out. (Red Rings of Death make it Spaghetti-Os)
if ps3 is surf and turf, then you only get to enjoy one bite. that bite is called resistance:fall of man.
the surf part leads me to wonder what would happen if i threw a ps3 in the ocean...

I'm a food man myself, and I agree with Jack Tretton. PS3 is Surf and Turf. Prepared by the fine chefs at your local Arby's.
Wii is, yes indeed, a lollipop. But it's made of a slab of meat cut from a man-eating cow that Chuck Norris slaughtered using David Hasselhoff as a sword and Christopher Walken as a shield.

My god, that would be the manliest of all the lollipops.

I'd still rather be mogul President and C.E.O. of the world's biggest Lollopop empire than the cook preparing Surf N' Turf. Besides, there's a million was to screw up a surf n' turf. Can't 'eff up a lollipop.

And the profits are probably better for lollipops
But i think he could've come up with a more relevant analogy, Jack needs to stop talking out of his ass (and its not as a Nintendo fanboy that i make that statement, i just don't like him)

You guys forgot the part where Tretton was asked (IE not doing so by his own desire to) to compare all the consoles to Food. He even said he couldn't do is objectively (which is true). So how about you guys calm down and actually get the big picture before trying to yell and scream. =)

You're exactly right, Dan. The PS3 is a snooty French restaurant, where only the richest and snobbiest customers are allowed. The Xbox is like a TGIFriday's—geared more towards young professionals; and the Wii is like an O'Charley's, or a Ruby Tuesday—fun enough for the grownups and kids as well.

I think that Jack Tretton meant to say that if the PS3 were food, it would taste like Astroturf.
