We've got a quick question for you today: if you could choose something to be implemented on the Wii right now, today, would you choose downloadable demos of DS games (for the handheld, downloaded from the Wii), or would you be more interested in demos of Virtual Console games? We probably could have just asked if you own a DS or not, since we think the first option would be super keen for those of us who don't often find themselves around a download station, but we're sure many among you would prefer VC demos.

A timed demo for all VC games would be great and easy to implement. Players could be asked if they would rather download the full game or a demo at the outset. The full game downloads would work the same way as they do now. Timed demos would still download the whole game, but it would be free. Then after maybe 15 minutes of play, a screen pops up with the options "Buy Full Game" or "Delete and Return to Wii Menu". If you buy the full game, you could continue play right away and would be able to keep all your saves. If you delete the game it would also delete your saves from that game, so you could redownload the demo but you'd have to start at the beginning again.
That would be the best solution, but that's not even necessary, IMO. If they just included 30sec videos on the information page of the game I'd be happy.

I'd like to see a DS download station type channel. More-so, though, DS games could be released where game content could be downloaded (stuff like Phoenix Wright cases, EBA tracks, etc.)

None of the above. I want Wii game demos. I know the internal memory can't handle them but I'd be willing to subscribe to Nintendo Power if it came with a Wii demo disc or buy an external HDD so they could be downloaded through Wii-connect if it was offered. There are so many Wii games I'd like to try before blindly buying them and renting is too expensive. Wii game reviews vary so much from each other when it comes to how the game controls with the remote that you really need to try a game to see if you'll like it. C'mon Nintendo figure out a way to let us demo your games. Last generation the GC was the only system that didn't have a monthly magazine with a demo disc too, get with the times Nintendo.

@vidGuy
That is an awsome solution.
Im the same, I'd be happy if there was just videos of gameplay.
I also hope they bring DS and other gameboy games to VC, because *sigh* I have still yet to purchase a DS, I'm not that big of a handheld gamer.

DS station by far. You can demo VC games using emulators as I do.
But a demo of DS games would be amazing.

I don't see any reason why we can't have both.

DS demos, but really only because I find myself buying VC games I've already played. Guess I'm nostalgic.

How about both? Or better yet, the ability to download Virtual Console games TO the DS. That's something I've been hoping for since day one. I mean, you could play Animal Crossing NES games on GBA so why not?

I would be happy if they simply cashed the wii shop channel on the memory, it far too long for the channel to load.
Also sometimes, for me, it never loads. What's up with that?

Um...how about both? But, if I had to choose I guess it would be DS demos. That way I could check out all of those wacky DS games that I haven't gotten to try yet. A VC demo service would be great, too. It's the same basic thing, but you can't very easily get your money back from purchasing a badly-aged VC game...

I'm gonna go on a limb and say the obvious: DS Demos.
VC games really *do* need demos, but although e-legal, there's ways to try out old games if you so desire.
DS games, though, here's really no way.

I seriously would like to see some DS connectivity for demo downloads. I can't find any place around here that has that setup, not even best buy and the other places like that. If I could do the same thing from my home with my Wii, it would definitely make things nice.

I own a DS and I would HAVE to say VC Demos. You can already get demos of DS games at stores. VC demos are nowhere and I wish they would use the XBOX Live approach for VC and Game Demos. And for pity's sake release a frickin' hard drive.

I'd love to see this (but expect that it's never going to happen): allow up to 2GB SD cards, and put demos of Wii retail games, VC games, and DS games (downloadable to your DS over WiFi) on the SD card for free from the Shop channel. PS3 does it, 360 does it, and there's no reason other than Nintendo's poor understanding of the North American market that Wii can't do it either.
Of course, that last little speed bump is kind of a doozy.

I wouldn't say DS even if I had one. The DS should be able to retrieve demos via its own wifi. (Though I don't know how it would all work, since I don't own one)
On my Wii, I want VC demos.

I'd rather have DS demos... for the most part (except maybe N64 games), if I know what a game is about and what style it is, I basically know how it's going to feel, and the test of time will tell me if it's any good.
Whereas DS games are likely to be new series, and use a new control style, so I really don't have anything to base my $30 on.
I used a fancy program to send demos out to my DS (using my sister's computer's Wi-Fi card, since my own wasn't compatible), and it actually encouraged both of us to buy a couple of games. Those are outdated now, and there aren't anymore online, though, so I need something new. I feel a bit silly standing in Wal Mart downloading a demo.

Actually even just a rating or popularity section for the VC would be cool, and DS Demo would be great. I have to look up stuff all over to try and see if a VC game would be good. It would be cool if there was a place to rate, or see reviews of the old games, that are new again. hint hint Wiifanboy.com
