Possible megaton alert! Cue the excitement -- or the yawns; your mileage with these announcements-about-announcements may vary. NoA President Reggie Fils-Aime dropped a not-so-subtle hint that we'll be seeing something special on our Wiis come September. A surprise, and just for us! He even says it'll be a good surprise; awesome, says us, because that's the best kind. It's probably not the Check Mii Out channel, because he was talking about that in the same breath in his interview with Game Head's Geoff Keighley. So what could it be? Perhaps an early peek at WiiWare? Some of you thought such a thing could be possible (though not quite that early). A channel we haven't heard about? Maybe demos? The Recipe Channel.
A virtual cookbook kept on your Wii, with a new recipe added every Monday. Sort your favorites, browse by region, and publish your favorites to your Wii Page (the personalized social space coming in December). Mark my words!

I hope that it's either:
1)a firmware update that allows for more channels and integrates things on the SD card into the channel menu or allows for different organization of the channel menu (submenus for each VC system would be much less cluttered)
2)The addition of virtual console GB/GBC games that can be played Super Game Boy style on the Wii or transferred to (separately bought) flash memory on the DS
or
3)online multiplayer rehashes of virtual console games

Free America's Army. It's even better than on the PC because you get to practice being really super patriotic with the wiimote. They send you a microphone attachment so you can yell "go home morans" at terrorists. It's the gold edition, which means you get to kill non-christian gods and go on special covert "elimination" missions through blue states. GO USA! GO ARMY! GO DYING! GO FREEDOM! GO something. Never mind. It wasn't that funny to begin with.

I really hope it'll be online VC games, but it'll probably be something stupid, instead.

I'm crossing my fingers for all USB drive support and moving SD card VC games into RAM (instead of it having to be in flash to play). That's all that really matters to me right now.

I'm definitely putting my money on VC demos and possibly demos of Wii games. Which would be very cool.

Actually, now that I think about it, it'll almost certainly be Neo-Geo games on the VC.
...but Saturn games would be nice, too. That would also be an actual surprise!

I simply hope its Goldeneye 007 for the N64 on the VC.
That, my friends, would be a REAL treat.

My guess is that it'll be like the last completely spontaneous surprise, "Everybody Votes". Another peripheral channel of some kind
Of course, i like Everybody Votes, so this would be good. But i wouldn't expect "teh megaton"

Possible WiiWare game launch? I doubt it's another useless channel. I'm certain it's not a demo channel. Seriously folks, 512MB of internal memory is nothing, and is even more nothing when you consider that most demos are hundreds of megabytes to begin with.
The only surprises I want are firmware updates which allow for big USB hard drive/keyboard/mouse support or DVD playback, and the announcement of some really good games coming out for either VC or Wii games themselves. Everything else in my opinion useless, even if it's fun for a while.
Whats that one WiiWare game where you're a plan and you shoot blocks? Yeah, I have that on my PC already, it's called Tumiki Fighters, and it's free. I'd much prefer Warning Forever....
