In another section of Stephen Totilo's
E3 interview with Reggie, this chunk focuses mostly on Nintendo's perceived favoritism to the Japanese market. With that region receiving lots of titles that we only get to hear about, Stephen asks Reggie if we should even be hopeful that such games will be localized.
The discussion then moves to Wii Ware, where the question of storage space on the Wii arises. Stephen asks Reggie about the possibility of a Wii hard drive, to which Reggie responds "could there be a market for a Wii hard drive? There certainly could be."

Boooo! I don't want a Wii harddrive and I don't want to be a market for one. I want Nintendo to open the USB to any storage device through a firmware update.

I just want them to allow the use of SD cards for playing and saving games. That'd be fine.

ARGH! Can't view the interview outside the US. Anyone know if there's a transcript posted anywhere?

"Mother fans keep bombarding me." Hear that? That's confirmation for Sonic I mean Ness in Brawl.

If they could just let you use SD cards or USB flash drives as HD space, that would be fine.

"Partners in Crime"? Don't these guys do a bit of research before conducting interviews? And then they had the mistaken title displaying on the screen for about ten seconds. Ugh.

LET US USE ANY USB HARD DRIVE! I don't want to be forced to buy a 'WiiDrive' that will probably be only 4 gigs and cost me $100.
As for his comment about the space limitations being a barrier: IT'S A BARRIER!! I'm not downloading as many VC titles now because I don't LIKE going through the slow and clunky interface on the Wii Shop Channel to find games I want to redownload after deleting games from the puny 512. That 512 of storage is the Wii's weakest link, and it's really, really, weak.

A live SDtoWii data manager would really clear a lot of that up, so that you still can't RUN a game off the SD Card, but a game stored on an SD card will appear on the Wii menu, and clicking on it will simply prompt you to choose a program to dump to the SD card, a little loading, then play

In fact, you could expand that to just having every VC/Wii Ware title you've ever gotten backed up on the Wii Menu (until you fill the 48 slots, of course), and clicking on the title will search 1: the NAND RAM 2: The SD Card 3: The internet to re-download
