If you've ventured over to the dojo today, you've undoubtedly noticed the revealing of the above character. Players will be able to take Ike into the Smash Bros. arena, taking on one and all with a blade that could only be rivaled by the Master Sword. He comes equipped with his signature special move "Aether."
See some screens of Ike in action in our gallery below.

Crazy, I am not familiar with the Fire Emblem series but its good news to have a few fresh faces joining the fight this time. I'm sure the inclusion of characters such as Ike will help cast a new light on some games that Smash Fans may not be as familiar with as, say, Zelda or DK. Rock on. Dude looks like a bada$$ no matter what you know about him.

It's nice to see a character from a FE game relevant to the U.S. Marth and Roy were nice and all, but I'd rather a character that the U.S. can say we know of.
Granted, I would've preferred one of the characters from the GBA games (since I never bought the GCN game), but I won't be too picky. Maybe I should consider picking it up...

While it's very good to have a north american FE character, I really hope this doesn't mean they're gonna give Marth the axe

FYI,
We're having problems with this gallery at the moment, so the new images aren't showing up. We're trying to fix it right now.

What's a Fire Emblem and how is this character important to anyone?

Hell yes
Ike with the sacred blade Ragnell and his Lord Ability, Aether (Doubles your attack per strike and doubles the number of strikes you get)
I figured they would do this, considering the fact that Fire Emblem is usually non-continuous between titles (Path of Radiance to Goddess of the Dawn being the exception) and that both Marth AND Roy would get the axe, being replaced by more recent characters (hopefully the other shall be Sothe, protagonist of the non-localized Goddess of the Dawn, since he wouldn't be a clone, as he's a Thief and would advertise the game, just as Roy advertised his unreleased game)

I predicted IKE would be in this game! I also predict Sothe will be in it too!
Also, these characters will MOST LIKELY be in it as well:
Diddy Kong
Capt Olimar
Paper Mario
Link (Windwaker/Phantom Hourglass)
Krystal (Starfox)
Luigi
Jigglypuff
Ganondorf
