i think it was partly because of my wireless, but some of my friends experience some lag and disconnections

I played it last night after i got home from the office. The tutorial was pretty good if you had never played a Strikers game (i never did) but i did find it a bit repetitive or over done. A shorter tutorial would have served its purpose better, but overall, it did pretty well explaining the basics of the game.
From then i won the first Fire cup and the computer's AI began getting tougher as the rounds progressed. The next cup, i have only played for about 1 hour and noticed that now the AI is much tougher but not overwhelmingly hard. The scaling is nice to keep up with your new skills.
Online: I played online for about 2 hours and i have to say that the system is a bit disappointing. There is no match customization, for example, minutes or rounds and there is no "search" function. You get automatically lined up with random players, like most NinWiFi games. They should have done a better job at that.
The plus side is that the game was lag-free and the action was non-stop.

How do you like it?
I think at this point it's just a rent for me, but if I really like it I'll buy it.

I've had it since it came out in the UK so I've had plenty of play-time with it.
I got a bit frustrated with online play, I either won easily or got absolutely whupped, there seemed to be no inbetween. Some kind of matchmaking based on ranking would help I think.
The best part of the game is local multiplayer, it's s hoot, especially after a few beers :)

I'll probably be renting it first to see how I like it. Of course, I have a few games I really don't play any more which I may take in to trade.

I've had it for a few weeks (Australia) and it's probably my favourite Wii game. 4 players on the same console is brilliant.

I got it yesterday, and I love it. I might've gotten my ass kicked on all 3 sets of online matches (one was laggy as all hell) but I had fun!

Had it pre-ordered, picked it up, and played it nonstop against my roomate. It's superior in every way in comparison to the gamecube version, but I haven't played online yet.

Yep, I got it. ^_^
Wi-fi is slow to log in (and I think that's because of the traffic) but once you're in, finding a match isn't hard.
Still trying to get the hang of the game, especially since I'm playing left-handed (curse you normal controllers! >_

I got it yesterday and it is amazing. A blast to play locally and online. I had a few disconnects on the WiFi last night but I'm guessing that was just cause everyone logged on at once and they will get the connection issues worked out soon. Overall, I hope nintendowiifanboy does a tourny with this game soon!

Damn straight i picked it up. I found a promotional deal on cheapassgamer that got me it for 40 dollars after shipping from familyvid. So I'll have to wait two weeks to play it... and then will only have it for a weekend before I go back to school, but I'm waiting eagerly for it.
The game looks awesome.

I picked this game up last night and I have to say it is great. Definitely the best Wii multiplayer game available right now. I had never played the Gamecube version but I was able to pick this up and quickly learn the basics.
Playing against the computer was a fun start but I soon strayed to the WiFi ranking matches. Amazing. The hope that I might eventually win a match kept me playing all night and I eventually did win a series. I didn't experience any lag (although it did disconnect once). I also played vs. a friend and that was a ton of fun as well.
This is definitely an addictive game to play with a group of friends.

Got the last copy my Gamestop had. Also they have begun taking PREORDERS FOR BRAWL! So I did that. But yeah, Strikers is sweet. Having trouble blocking those Megastrikes when someone nails it though.

IGN is so full of shit. I absolutely HATE and DISTRUST their reviews. Its so obvious how retarded they are over there.
Take Mario Strikers Charged for instance. The review is amazing. The guy is raving about almost everything. He even compliments the Online (although it uses Friends Codes...which is a bitch ass move by Nintendo).
However he ruins it by first saying, "MSC has good graphics by Wii standards that is". FUCK YOU MATT. We know the Wii isn't a graphical powerhouse. We KNOW its not a machine built to play 1080p. The graphics for the game are EXCELLENT.
Then to make himself look even MORE stupid he gives it an 8.3.
So wait a min matt...after all those wonderful things you can't see fit to give the game a freaking 9.0! Even though you KNOW this game is probably one of the TOP 10 games to come out for the Wii so far? Even though you basically said the game is awesome in almost ALL aspects you give it a measly 8.3?
Thats why I only use IGN for trailers and previews.

@GearsMaster
He did not only say good things, he said the graphics are OK (but suck compared to galaxy or prime), and that the annoying super goal kicks get lame after 5 times, and you can't skip them.
8.3 is a good score. The game is good, it is not perfect. If the graphics looked a little better, probably +.3, if you could skip certain animations, probably +.2, if the online had no independent friend code, +.2, if online had more options, +.2. So there you go. A bunch of ways the game could be better. If it did all that it woulda gotten at least a 9.2. Keep in mind too that some people don't like how this game is basically nothing like real soccer, haha.
So please don't whine. It is a reasonable score. In fact at metacritic, the avg score for all critics is 79%. So IGN actually thinks better of the game than most critics.
IGN has fair reviews. Look how obviously bribed Gamepro is by comparison.

Well if people want real soccer they know what to do don't they?
FIFA
As for IGN I still think the number it received was garbage. I understand your examples but besides the online stuff I think the other 2 are a joke. There are so many games where you can't skip certain animations...And as far as graphics go MSC is one ofthe best looking games. In fact I think it looks really good. Maybe not as good as Galaxy.
I just think its weak how they say all that positive stuff and then end up plastering an 8.3 on the game. Just like a few weeks ago they went and gave another game a 7.0 or something after giving it a great review as well.

I still disagree but I will say that IGN is guilty of PREVIEWING games very positively, then slamming them when they come out.
IMO they think the game sucks the whole time, but don't want to anger game companies by hurting sales by panning previews.

I'm not buying it only for the reason I don't have money and I can't get a job (I'm 14 almost 15). I am saving for other, better games. Like Metroid. But I will for sure rent it on Friday when Hollywood Video gets it in.

Since I'm going to be out of town this weekend and won't be able to play my Wii I ordered it on the interbutts to save $15.
The wait sucks, but I'm super excited about this game. And I don't even like soccer!

I just got the game yesterday, but I was wondering if it is possible to connect 2 Wiis with the game and play a local wifi match with 4 vs 4. I don't think that it is, but if so when I have a bunch of friends over that could be very awesome.

so what? i don't trust their scores either but it's not like he's contradicted himself at all. honestly i think the game looks bland, the graphics while in play are passable but mainly uninteresting, and he's right about the megastrike, it interrupts the flow of play and that bugs the hell out of me.
it gets an easy 7 in my book.

you can't do 4 vs. 4 but you can have 2 on 1 wii vs. 2 on another. im planning to get this game it looks sweet.
by the way, if you read the ratings system info on ign, it lists 8.3 as "impresive" and "An excellent gaming experience that misses the boat in just a few key areas. Games that score in this range still come highly recommended by IGN." this pretty much describes mario strikers.
Meanwhile, a 9.0 is "outstanding" and "A fantastic achievement with only minor flaws or imperfections. If a game scores a 9.0 or better you know it's a great title with just enough imperfections to let you know they're for real. Games of this caliber are must-haves, even if you're not particularly fond of the genre."
also you have to remember that it's an opinoin article. i probably would give it a 8.6 from what ive heard.
