These screens of Impossible Mission may not scream "next-gen graphics" to you, but consider these points: first, sometimes Wii games look like this; and second, this is purportedly a downloadable Wii Ware title. That said, we think the hand-drawn 2D is sharp and colorful, and we personally enjoy the look. So maybe we'll add a third point to our rebuttal: shut up, nonexistant straw man.
Nintendo World Report has a European/Australian release date of August 31 for Impossible Mission. If that's true, it means that Wii Ware games are on the way sooner than we thought. It's probably not true. We expect some more announcements from Nintendo before games just start showing up.

I think Impossible Mission could get done soon. I think they're just waiting to get a lineup ready. You know like one or two weeks that sort of thing.

As someone who played and loved both IM and IM2 on the Commodore 64, *any* kind of graphical improvement is good! I can't wait for this one.
By the way, play.com is listing it as a 31/08/07 release, while Amazon says 10/08/07.

Didn't Reggie promise a surprise by the end of Sept? This seems to fit the time frame... kind of.

The side view, action scrollie has long since been undervalued due to the advent of FPS games. It's SAD, honestly. Now it seems like everyone demands their games to be in full 3D.
GIVE ME "OUT OF THIS WORLD" OR "FLASHBACK" ANYDAY! Devs? Are you hearing me? And... make an awesome, updated port of Bionic Commando (replug) while you're at it.

Hmm, in the interview Reggie had with Gamehead on spike he mentioned that in the future more things will involve wii-connect24 then the guy said "when" Reggie kept saying "the surprise is comin, the surprise is comin, the surprise is comin, by the end of september"
Could that mean wii ware by the end of september?

BIONIC COMMANDO! Holy crap that was a fun game, and just imagining playing it with a Wii remote is an awesome concept. I do hope this becomes a reality, even if they just ported the NES or arcade version to the Wii, but motion controls sure would be sweet.

Never played IM on the commodore, even though I had one. I did, however, play Zillion on the Sega Master System and it appears, at least from the screen shots, that this may be along the same lines. If that is the case, I welcome it!

i played lots.. perhaps too much... impossible mission.
i'm glad they offer the original graphics alongside the redone versions, not a big fan of the overly-artistic new version. i will be playin' old style :)

I think Impossible Mission has been finished for quite a while now... I was annoyed that I'd have to wait til 08 for it, maybe we will indeed see an early launch for WiiWare!
(Or, maybe IM will just be made available standalone in the shop channel ahead of WiiWare)
