A Ruliweb poster reports that "Large scuffle [su] every [swi] [pu] compared to Japanese date of issue of [su] X. November 22 straight road decision. In compliance with a wye pie communication possibility! before the adult!" Luckily, NeoGAFfer farnham can actually read either the Korean post or the issue of the Japanese magazine Coro Coro to which it refers, and he says that the post is about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and that there's a confirmation of online battling somewhere in all those words and stuff. And even we can read the Japanese release date of November 22. That's pretty soon! Possibly even before the adult!

Not holding my breath until it's official... but I know it's something they've wanted in the game since day 1.
They probably don't want to steal Metroid's thunder, so I bet we'll hear more after MP3 is out.

Who cares about the online battling--IF YOU CAN'T COMMUNICATE!!! My brother and I played each other on Mario Strikers, and if we both hadn't been private chatting through our Xbox 360's, it would have been the most pointless game ever... might as well play the computer...
How hard would it be to get a freaking BlueTooth Wireless Headset to communicate with the Nintendo Wii like the remotes do? I thought they called this thing the "Wii" implying that it was supposed to generate more community over video games--How can you create any sort of community with a complete lack of communication???
I love my Wii, but my 360 will continue to get more play time until Nintendo lives up to it's slogan--"Wii would like to play" (but not talk??? Gotta be kidding me!)

Personally, i'd be mad if Nintendo allowed voice chat over random play, but yeah, they could just open up the BlueTooth and let people buy their own headsets (or just use any USB mic while they're at it) to allow for friend chat. We know the DS can do it, and its got very limited bandwidth
But i'll go with #1, i'll believe it when Nintendo says it, rumors abounded about MP3 as well, and we know where that went, but chances are good, considering the first information we knew about the game was that it:
1: Had Snake
2: Was for "Revolution"
3: Was Online

who needs bluetooth when you've got wye pie communication possibilities?
Srsly though, I think any multiplayer game of halo on xbox live is a clear example of why Nintendo won't be releasing a headset of any kind. I know mom isn't going to sit and enjoy watching her kid get called every 5 seconds while she waits to play her daily game of bowling. While it doesn't make sense to the hardcore market whom have come to expect a headset as standard for online play, I don't think it will mesh will with this new and ever expanding world of gaming...

well people have cell phones... and theres pc voice chat... i really dont see why it should actually be a part of playing a game online because i would rather not hear someone elses dumb fat video game nerd voice... i usually just listen to music anyways.

Some DS games already have voice chat, so Nintendo is obvisouly not against the concept.

Going off of what LessThanMrt said, he's right. I was visiting my brother and he was playing Halo 2 on the 360. All of the sudden his TV said in a very pre-puberty voice, "You @!#%en $©?# é!&@!!!oneimanube!!!!" My mother turned around and said, "What are you playing!?" I had to explain to her that there are parents everywhere who never matured and don't raise their children and let them say and do whatever they want.
So imagine the whole Mario Kart experience being ruined when some immature urban kid starts spewing out feces when he's getting owned.

@Jason
Or... they'll just end up doing what they did with every voice-enabled DS game and restricting voice chat to friend matches... thats not really a bad thing in this day and age, 'cuz I'm sick of hearing 12 year olds, erm, 'voice their opinions' loudly on Live.
