Nintendo Wii Fanboy

I played the online version last night. I had a few glitches, the most annoying -- being all of a sudden my team would go into a no huddle after a big play. Of course, one of my players would move and I'd get a penalty. No problems connecting though.

Enjoyed it for the most part.

Online is a bonus effort this year, not a real feature. It's poorly done, I agree. But if you bought this game for online you were in error, as it's purely about the local multiplayer, just the same as all Wii games. Hopefully it'll be fixed.

First off, you can tell this guy has no idea what he is doing. "download roster, i have no idea why."

Wii grafix arn't expected to be HD. Game play is great. I expect some patches this weekend to their online system.

"Online is a bonus feature"? Do you even know how that sounds? Online is a feature just like everything else, and they should have taken it out (or released it later as a downloadable add-on) if it was going to be so awful at launch.

Also, I'm guessing that this isn't his first time to the timeout screen, so the roster update should have been installed already... and if so, why did it ask him to install the roster update again?

I'm dissapointed to report the same thing with regards to the no huddle false start glitch. It seems like whenever I or the computer goes into a no huddle, a false start happens in unrealistic amount of the time. Anyone else experiencing this issue.

It worked well for me. I was able to play a full 3 min quarter game. I did have issues with the kicking and sometimes, my QB was slow on the release, but overall, it wasn't horrid.

I read somewhere that when you play ranked matches or somethign onlien they make you play a realsitic game of football. Meaning no gambles on 4th and logn and no random onside kicks . Maybe this also plays into teh no-huddle offence. I dont' have hte game just what ive read.

Pretty sad, when you consider that 2k football worked near flawlessly out of the box for Sega Dreamcast, was pretty fun to play online, and did all of this 7 years ago on a much less powerful machine.

My guess is this is EA's problem for having to coordinate their servers with Nintendo, since they aren't using the WiFi Connect system (hence no friend codes)

Still, this isn't unexpected for an online game on a Nintendo console, sad, but not unexpected

the reason there is always a false start is because "fair play" mode is turned on. it doesnt allow you to do hurry-up offense until it is necessary (e.g., end of half, or game). the glitch is the fact that it is far to easy to accidentally switch to hurry-up. thats why you cant go for it on 4th down and stuff like that as well, until a "normal" team would.

anyone having problems connecting with opponents.
I connect online but when i try connecting to an opponent....it now always says that the connection to my opponent has been lost. Then i'll go to the "Play Now" feature and it wont connect me to anyone at all. At the end it will just say "the connection to your opponent has been lost." So annoying. Whats the deal with this. I cant play any games online now because of this.

Alright here is my take on this. Since the game doesn't use friend codes and since it isn't even listed as a game on the Nintendo WiFi site then EA must have used their own servers for this game. This is truly an EA problem and not a Nintendo problem. Yeah it does give the Nintendo online scene a bad name but my Mario Strikers Charged connects just fine and so does my brothers Pokemon Battle Revolution.
I would also like to note that I am a Computer Hardware Tech. and it sounds like EA either didn't use dedicated servers for this game or they used servers that doesn't have the capacity to handle all the people playing the game.

I play online and have the same problems. The no huddle happens because the B button is turbo and also no huddle. So when you have big gains you hold down the B button and because of the online lag you let go too late and it goes to no huddle. One question though. Why is Brandon Jacobs in the running mini camp, he wasn't even a starter last year Frank Gore was the NFC's leading rusher and isn't in a mini camp? Maybe because 08 is just a roster update of 07 and its easier and cheaper to change Tiki Barber to Brandon Jacobs than its is to change him to Frank Gore. Great job EA.

Help. How do I play Madden 08 online? Whenever I go into 'Play Online' it seems I'm the only one online. Can't see or find anyone to play with. Am I doing something wrong??

Does anyone no the deal with when someone quits on you? I played and beat the computer, but did not get credit for the win. It really sucks playing until 30 secs left in the game, and the other guy quits, then I don't get any credit for my win.
