Since its announcement, opinions of and feelings toward Soul Calibur Legends have been volatile, to say the least. At first, the game inspired almost universal excitement among series fans, and it's (mostly) been downhill since then. But what's the real situation here? Are you you already deciding to avoid this one like the plague after seeing some early impressions, or are you willing to wait and see if the gameplay improves? How do you feel about the screens you've seen so far? We've updated our gallery with some new shots if you'd like to take a peek.
As a rabid fan of the series, this blogger is planning to give it a try unless final reviews mention eyeball-melting atrocity. Nothing short of that will stop high action beatdowns!

LMAO this will NEVER be a great title let alone a decent one.
Its a joke just like RE:UC. Although at least RE:UC does serve a purpose.
The Wii should be getting Soul Calibur FOUR/4
The Wii should be getting Resident Evil FIVE.
NOT this Legends bullshit. And if we're honest with ourselves we'd admit that this game is a copout like RE:UC

reminds me of that mortal kombat spinoff with sub-zero...
Might be worth a play, but seeing beautifully controlled fighting characters shoe horned into an action game (and no action game can control like a proper fighter) just leaves me cold. It always feels klunky even if the controls are (for an action game) good, simply because they're not fighter controls, which wouldn't work in an action game...
Note: it doesn't break down the same way if you go in the other direction. See various chars in Smash Brothers (Samus, Link, etc.). Since they've just added more control and moves to the characters, rather than take some moves and manuverabilty away.

I'm about as big a Soul Caliber fan as can be and I'm most likely passing on this. Not because it doesn't live up to unrealistic expectations that were misinterpreted from press statements (the whole 1-to-1 weapon movement), but because it's like an entire game of Tekken Force Mode or Devil Within, which were shitty minigames in the best of lights.
@2:
RE:UC could actually be really good. Arcade shooters have long been a standard in arcades but never really translated over to consoles well, mostly because they've all required purchasing extra controllers. The Wii is perfect for this genre. Hell, ever since playing the shooter levels in Rayman, I've been waiting for a nice on-rails shooter. A RE themed one would be great.

I was super exited when I heard about Soul Calibur Legends because I'm a huge fan of the series, but it very quickly dawned on me that this meant we definately wouldn't be getting SC4 (which lo and behold was confirmed shortly afterwards) and just like Capcom have fobbed us off with RE:UC and given the proper RE game to the PS3/360, Namco were doing exactly the same.
But I guess we always knew this sort of thing would happen. I'm going to remain (naively) optimistic about it.

People, the trailers and everything weren't well done, but the game looks alright, just because it's a spinoff doesn't mean it's a bad game, look at final fantasy tactics advance, for instance. ForceUnleashed, don't be hating on RE:UC, there aren't any gameplay changes, you are just acting like a retard (That's to be expected, seeing as you are one.) saying "It's not in the main series,so it's automatically crap."

If you people want third party titles like Soul Calibur 4 and Resident evil 5, why the hell did you get a wii, I got it because I wanted to play Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games, if I wanted to play Resident Evil, Soul Calibur, or Final Fantasy, I would've gotten a ps3.

When I first saw the Legends video, my jaw dropped in excitement. I'm not sure why everyone's dissing the game, I, for one, kinda like it.
Unless the controls are as flawed as a reviewer said they are, however, I'm not getting it.

I think it would be good if they made it more beat-em-up than proper adventure (for example, more God of War and Devil May Cry, and less Heavenly Sword and Zelda)
as it is, i would have to say no

Its odd, too. This game seems to be having the opposite problem that Metroid Prime 3 is, MP3 looks GREAT in motion, and horrible in screens, this game looks excellent in screens, and vomit-inducing in motion

Alright, at everyone who has a problem with spin-offs on Nintendo consoles, I point you toward Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.
@12, excuse me if I missed out on any sarcasm in your post, but the Hands On article was laying on the sarcasm with its criticism of the game to the point of lunacy. Even in a low quality youtube video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8VueUahzknQ), one can discern that the game looks fine in motion. I see nothing wrong with this game so far other than the fact that we won't get a true traditional fighter sequel to the series, but it's way better than being left empty handed, as was the case when Soul Calibur III hit the PS2. I'm going to have a blast playing as Seigfried when this game releases.
Also, after reading the comments of the hands on article, I have to beg Nintendo Wii Fanboy bloggers to stop trying to use any sort of irony in their articles. Apparently, nine tenths of the readership doesn't quite catch on. Now there's a bunch of deluded fools who are actually going to avoid this game.
