First Table Tennis vid
The first gameplay trailer for Table Tennis on the Wii has made its way out of Leipzig and boy does it look ... well, it looks bad. Seriously, the difference in graphics between the Xbox 360 and the Wii versions are huge. That's not to say the game doesn't look like a fun time to us. It's the opposite, actually, as we know in our heart of hearts that the game will be all kinds of fun, but come on. We know the Wii can push better graphics than this.

Maybe on a larger screen it wouldn't be so hot but this little clip looks pretty smooth to me.

I'm gonna have to agree and say, it looks pretty good to me. Not sure exactly what the complaint is...?
Also, Jesper looks like he sucks big time.

It doesn't look bad at all. Actually its just a crappy video clip. If you look at the HD one at Gametrailers it almost looks the same as the 360 version. Although I do think he was being sarcastic due to the italics he used. I'm just wondering how much it is going to cost. Hopefully they will pull and RE4 and make it $29.99 then I will buy. Or better yet pull a Mercury Meltdown and make it $19.99.

Yeah, i don't know what your complaint is, the only thing that looked better about the 360 version was the clothing and the better dynamic shading
Models look damn near the same to me, this game would rank up there with Sonic and the Secret Rings and RE4/Umbrella Chronicles

It isn't sarcasm, guys, I really think the game looks like crap. If you all disagree, then I guess I better have a mental evaluation. I could be halucinating. :D

Yeah... Those graphics aren't bad at all. Maybe it's at a lower resolution and less pretty in terms of lighting, but The wii game looks pretty nice.

The 360 graphics definitely look better, but it's not that horrible and frankly I'm not sure how good I need my table tennis game characters to look.

Throw another one in for a WTH? This clip makes the game look just how I imagined it would be. Looks good, not great, but fine for the Wii. Plus, it's fricking ping pong, why do the graphics matter? If the controls are responsive, then it's an automatic buy for me. Problem is I think I notice some lag between the control and action in another video I've seen.
I appreciate that they reduced the background detail by darkening it and gave all of the power to the characters, though.
Plus, DH, always remember that we watch these on compressed Internet videos.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with the majority here. The game looks just as I pictured it would when I first heard of its release.
The Player models looks good, just with a little less "shine" than the 360 version, but, I mean, really, they look pretty good on the clip.
To each their own, though.. to each thier own.

David, could you tell us specifically what looks bad? And so we are clear, the bad already includes worse shading and clothes, and IMO movement animations.

This game looks great. I wouldn't have expected the Wii to be able to display graphics so similar to X360. Obviously not in hi-definition, but otherwise I'm impressed.

@ JC
The models might look similar to Arcade Virtua Tennis, but the lighting in Wii Table Tennis is leaps and bounds ahead, which puts it on top

Funny how the Nintendo fantards have to try and convince themselves it looks good.
Seriously, the 360 version is in a whole 'nother league graphically.

Yes, yes it is. Thing is, you don't have to push HD and have tons of bloom to look 'good'. RE4 still looks great, as does Wind Waker. This game looks nice, not mind-blowing but good for the Wii and I'm sure it's a hell of a lot more fun to play than to look at.
So, call us fantards if you must, but I'd much rather play a fun game in SD than a boring game in HD.

It has pretty bad jaggies, could definatly use some Anti-Aliasing. Other than that I think it looks pretty good.

Anyone who thinks these graphics are great needs to get their heads examined. The textures look like crap, they don't move or ripple, and it looks mainly like a PS2.
There's no moving environment in this game, so the character graphics and animations should be top notch. C'mon.
They could have at least given it some bloom effect to hide those fugly textures.

Maybe it's because I haven't seen this game on Xbox360, but I agree with the majority of people here: the Wii version looks nice. Ok, it's not breath-taking graphics, but I think they're fine. Remember that watching a crappy compressed Internet video is not the same as the actual thing.

I'm sorry, but these comments have me totally confused. The game looks ugly, mostly due to the seemingly complete lack of aliasing that plagues most third-party Wii games. It just looks like another lazy port job to me.

Yes the jaggies are bad, especially on tape at the border of the table. If they cannot AA then a creative use of texture can hide that where it blends the green and white.
I am not a fan of bloom and shiny, thank goodness there is none of that ridiculousness here.
I also like how the background is so dark, maybe this was done for technical reasons, but it improves the game making it easier to focus on the ball.
I hope the lag in controls is not bad, hopefully the player was just simply awful.

I really don't think it looks as terrible as some have been saying. Obviously it's not going to look like the 360 graphics, but that's a given. Just because I say it doesn't look bad for a Wii game doesn't make me a fantard. I happen to also own a 360 and PS3 along with my Wii. As much as I wish the Wii had the graphical power of the other systems, we all sort of just make the concession that a different and sometimes (not always) cleverer control scheme can make for a better overall experience.
You console fanboys need to relax. Nobody's forcing you to buy Table Tennis for Wii. Seriously. Sit back down.

WTF!?!?
Why do people continue to compare the graphics of the Wii with the version of the 360? It is pointless and lame because the 360 has higher capabilities. You are comparing apples to oranges. The Wii wasn't meant to have good graphics. How many of these stupid comparisons do you people have to make before that sinks in. Jesus H.
