Remember how we were getting "an all new version" of Cruis'n for Wii? Well, if this is what passes for "all new," we'll take some old junk, please. Or nothing. Or an eye wash. Of course, this Cruis'n game is, in reality, as "all new" as it is attractive-- based on menu images, it's apparently a rebranded Wii version of a The Fast & The Furious arcade game. We wonder if IGN's Matt Casamassina is as thrilled about the game's Wii exclusivity now after these screens have been released.
Note to developers: If your game's graphics ever compare unfavorably to those of a Nintendo 64 game, then it's time to go back to the drawing board, and then get stronger prescription eyewear so you can see that drawing board. We hope this all turns out to be a mistake or hoax of some kind, because we don't want to think that Midway thinks this is an acceptable thing to release.

You know, at least the PS2 had a good bit of quality third party titles before it was flooded with shovel ware crap.
A note to 3rd party developers who might happen to read this:
YOU HAVE TO FUCKING PUT SOME *QUALITY* TITLES ON A SYSTEM ***FIRST*** BEFORE PEOPLE WILL BUY THIS KIND OF SHOVEL WARE GARBAGE !
Fuck this, dude. How can Midway possibly think this game is acceptable? I'm really getting sick of these companies dumping complete shit on the Wii while they're putting actual effort into the games they're putting out on the PS3 and 360.
Talk about insulting.

They could have totally ripped Excite Truck, put in long tracks, add Cruisin' music, and more vehicles. That's all they had to do.

Its really frustrating, since I was actually looking forward to Cruis'n.
Oh well, one less game to buy. Still got Trauma Center 2, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Smash Bros, M Galaxy, Bat Wars 2, Fire Emblem Wii, Metroid Prime 3.....

The Cruis'n series has always been my favorite racing series at the arcade. Such a shame that they couldn't do it justice on the Wii.
Wasn't the original a 3-way collaberation between Midway, Nintendo, and Rare? Well I think Rare belongs to Microsoft these days, but doesn't Nintendo have a say in this at all? I don't know enough about the inner-workings of developer/publisher relationships.
On another note, why can't we see another Killer Instinct game (another Midway/Nintedo/Rare title)?

Hear, hear, brother. I'm usually starved for ANY videogame play time, which is why I didn't mind so much that the Wii was being thrown at with ports and half-assed attempts at full games, but you know what...Fuck That.
With Galaxy and Prime coming, hell...even Zack and Wicki, it truly is insulting to see some of the 'work' being put into current and future titles and I'm finally putting my foot down.
But considering what a powerhouse the Wii currently is, voting with my dollar doesn't seem like an appropriate solution. I guess all we can do is wait?

Graphics don't matter right Nintendo faithful?
c'mon, say it with me....graphics don't matter. It's all about gameplay. Well, it looks like Midway took what you said literally.
Welcome to last gen Nintendo.
Do you still think graphics don't matter after seeing this monstrosity? I am not saying that graphics are the most important thing in a videogame, but they do matter. Now maybe those of you who keep saying they don't now realize that they do indeed matter.

@10: yea, proof that SOME nintendo followers were idiots. maybe in need of a rephrasing...no one thought midway or any other company would take it to such an extreme as to allow graphics from TWO generations ago to show up...
well, i still say graphics aren't THAT important. but come ON...i could make something look better than that. and i've never modeled in 3D before...ever...lol.

Wow, if this isn't a DS game people should get fired. I've played PSX games less blocky than this. I can accept simple, clean graphics of say Wii Sports for the non-gamer, but when the graphics look worse than last gen. somethings wrong.

I don't care anything about Cruisin'; I'll just ignore it like I ignore all crappy games. I just don't want to hear Midway whine when this game fails to sell.
Just don't screw up San Francisco Rush, or there'll be blood involved...

Even if it IS a DS game people should get fired, what the hell is up with those textures? Check out that wall/barrier in the background- random black line out of nowhere. not very professional, especially for a promotional screen D:

Leave it to some moron to jump on the "har har you guys said graphics don't matter here you go" train.
Graphics don't matter, as in, there's no reason to have the MOST advanced graphics in the world. However, that doesn't mean that developers shouldn't try to use the hardware given to them. The Wii, even with the weaker GPU, can easily do better than this, so developers (even lazy ones like midway) should work to push something at least on par with the capabilities of the machine.
This isn't a fault of the Wii's power, it's a fault of the developers not tapping it at all. If someone makes a PSP game that looks like a PSX game, it's not the PSPs fault, it's the developers'.
That said, this game looks terrible, but I suppose it can be expected. Midway, after all.
Can anyone enlighten me on that Fast and the Furious game? I mean, the article is saying it looks like a rehash (which it does), but if I remember right, that game is made by the abysmal Raw Thrills, the makers of Target: Terror, aka the only stop motion shooting game left.

Midway's not exactly known for high quality and production values, but COME ON. This is just ridiculous. Gran Turismo 2 on the first PlayStation honestly looks better than this crap (arquably a lot better, even), and it was released 8 years and 2 whole generations ago. If these are the best examples of your little Cruis'n game's graphics, I would love to see the shots that didn't make the cut.
Wait, I wouldn't. And speaking of cut, you could shave a beard or poke someone's eye out with those jaggies. How dumb do you think your customers are? No, wait, make that EX-customers. I will be sure to not touch this sh!t with a 80 foot pole, and will do all in my power to ridicule you publicly and spread the word to avoid Midway stuff like plague. I encourage everyone else to do the same, unless you want these companies to think releasing crap like this is somehow Ok. And then have the nerve to whine when their little games don't sell on Nintendo systems.
Midway, I hope you go f##king bankrupt for this. You deserved it years ago and now more than ever. Do a favor for the whole industry and die away. And the same also goes to every other company making laughable, no-effort PS2/PSP ports and pathetic party/casual/licence crap on Wii, with the production values of a school play. Games are supposed to evolve on more powerful systems, not go backwards technically. It's 2007, tonight I'm definitely NOT gonna party like it's 1999.

Midway: The 'M' stands for Mediocre!
It's as true now as it was 10+ years ago. I think I can count on my hands the number of worthwhile games Midway has ever produced. And aside from Hydro Thunder, they were all from way back in the 8-bit era (Mmmm...Marble Madness...).
