If there's one thing the Wii needs, it's more tennis. And that's just what Take Two and 2K Sports think, as they get set to bring their top tennis franchise Top Spin to the console sometime this spring. The game will be developed by 2K's Paris studio PAM Development in conjunction with 2K Shanghai and, if press releases are to be believed, will feature "fun, flawless tennis action and the most real life tennis experience to date for the Wii." Players will use the nunchuk for controlling their player and their aim, while, as one would assume, the Wiimote will be the player's tennis racket, allowing them to take use of the motion-sensitive controls. This will allow players to control what kind of shot they make, as well as the power and intensity of that shot. Oh, and there will be party games. We all know a Wii game is incomplete without them!
Sadly, no Wi-Fi support was mentioned.

Seriously, I cannot understand why companies step in and produce some good sport titles. You could convert any Wii Sports game into a full new game. Just do some work, make some nice controls, add more advanced techniques, good graphics and some playing modes. And of course an online mode. (or real pro players)
It does not take many brain cells to put something like that together just some work and dedication to really make a good game. I mean basically it is upgrading Wii Sports to the next level. Rare did similar on the N64 with taking concepts from Nintendo games and polishing/upgrading it. (Yes they made original games too of course :). I just think of Banjo Kanzooie for example.
Ok, enough rant. Please let this be a good tennis game. :)

I just hope they work out the delay we experienced in "The Bigs". "The Bigs" is a fairly fun game, but they really need to do something about the batting delay that would kill a game like Tennis.
