Naw, he's the first boss, and my guess is that the unrescued princess becomes fodder for the LAST boss (but the last boss in a new-sonic-game way, a last boss that is only the precursor to the real last boss, whom you have to beat with the unrescued princess)

If my prediction were true, i'd rescue Zelda, i can't use her at all

I wonder if this can affect unlocking characters. Before the 1P and multiplayer modes to challenge characters, what if these paths can unlock them.

I think there will be many paths in the single player mode. You will have to go back a second time and save the other princess to see other events. I am sure even down the line, there will be other branching points too.

INFERNAPE CONFIRMED IN BRAWL.

I am interested to see what happens to the princess you don't choose to save. I will most likely wind up saving Zelda at my sister's nagging because I don't really have a preference.
