Thankfully, the two movies from last night's Corruption preview channel update make up for the flavorless advertisement. In addition to throwing light on Dark Samus's relationship with the Space Pirates, the videos also offer a glimpse of a hectic battle between Samus and a group of enemies in a mine. Head past the post break to watch both clips.
More Metroid Prime 3 videos, bland commercial

With these videos widely available for the Internets, why would one need and download the Metroid Channel?
I haven't used it since the day it came out.

The Metroid Channel is more for people who don't use the internets to look for game information. Some people who would be interested in that game may only really use the web for banking email and facebook. The commercial is what really bugged me, I understand that they have built their marketing around the whole we would like to play thing, but I think they should have just broadcast the first trailer that showed up on the preview channel.

The Mine Battle video does make me say, "let ME try it!", so I guess it's successful. The commercial... I think it started off well, but this is not a group game.
Which is not to say that my girlfriend hasn't expressed an eager interest in watching me play it. She's excited for Sunday. Still, I am not inviting eight people over to my house in order to watch me play.

I was thinking the same thing about the RE:4WE commercials...way too much sunlight and the whole felt too....bright. These are the games you play in the dark people! Only 4 more days....

I do wish they'd stop marketing every single game in the exact same way. This "everyone can play" stuff is all very well for Wii Sports and the like, but Metroid?!! I'm surprised they didn't have a granny playing it. I bet they thought about it.....
Also, have Nintendo forgotten that people actually like to play games.....God forbid.....on their own!! Not in a party environment or surrounded by grinning goons....

Why don't they ever use the freaking charge beam?

I think they're smart to try to reach new audiences with the Metroid game. Still, I feel like the game could have had a few more fast moving shots in the morph ball, since that's what makes it special. The shooter stuff has only so much appeal, but I guess it's new enough with the wiimote.

As powerful as the charge beam is. It's usually easier to spam them to death. It's probably a holdover from speed running you think to charge shots to take them out in as few hits as quickly as possible.

That Dark Samus trailer really should be a tv commercial.

I love the Aurora video, the Valhalla video, the Dark Samus video and the original video. They are all commercial worthy if you ask me!

That commercial was good, but it made the game seem like on big waggle-fest.

i dont get why everyone is picking on the commercial, it shows gameplay and how some of the motion controls work, which is what a wii game commercial should do. the other trailers may seem better to us, but the tv commercial is meant for a broader audience, as shocking as it may seem not everyone followed this game as much as us, and some people may not have even heard of it.

I am still on the fence about the commercial. But while I was thinking about it, I realized that this commercial is the first I've seen in a very long time that resembles some of the classic 80's video game commercials that show the whole family getting into a game, etc. Sure, the Wii sports commercials did that too but to see a Metroid game in that fashion is kind of nice for a change. I guess in 20 years we'll go on Youtube and watch the Wii Metroid commercial from 2007 and make fun of it much like we do the Atari commercials now.

I'm okay with it. But what's the point if I'll never see this on television?
This should have been airing at least a week ago.

Why use the MP:3 channel? (Almost) full screen video. That's why I fired it up rather than use the gametrailers version, myself.
