Following word that Rockstar would be bringing their Table Tennis game to the Wii, Take Two announced that its popular tennis franchise Top Spin Tennis would also be gracing the Wii. After seeing Table Tennis, though, many reported it isn't the fun game on the Wii that it is on the Xbox 360. Now, doubts are surfacing regarding Top Spin Tennis.
Senior producer Jean-Yves Patay wants you to rest assured that Top Spin Tennis will be a full-fledged tennis game and nothing like Wii Sports: Tennis. "Wii Sports Tennis is a wonderful game but in Topspin you will have to move your character and do different swings. You can move normally and that'll be fine - you will just perform regular swings. But if you want to perfect your technique you will need to practise. So I like to say it's a finished game on Wii."
Sounds good to us, because we always wanted something like Wii Sports: Tennis, but with more depth.
Top Spin Tennis is a real honest game

"Now, doubts are surfacing regarding Top Spin Tennis." From where? Sources please? I just got to play the Wii build of Rockstar's Table Tennis and it was fantastic. The only real complaint I've heard about it is from JC Fletcher.
I don't necessarily want to defend a game I know nothing about, but let's not kill it yet. It sounds like the additions they are promising fill in the gaps well of what was missing from Wii Sports: Tennis.

All I really need is analog control for movement via the nunchuck. If they can add precision hitting, than that is great...

a refined version of Wii Sports tennis (mostly adding in spin control to the angle control and analogue movement)
would REALLY hit the spot
If reviews are good, i'd buy this, an expansion of Wii Sports Tennis with joystick control alone would really merit a good game in and of itself, this is better

Has any developer ever thought to use two Wii-motes for a video game? Imagine dual wielding, or using the untethered left hand to move your tennis character (and lean) and then use your right to swing away!

You guys can't have it both ways. You can't have Wii Sports w/ more depth and not have it be a little more challenging because you have to learn and practice different moves to get it right.
Honestly having a nunchuck attached to be able to move the character and then having a finger on the A and B button to indicate back or top spin and to swing a forehand and backhand wouldn't be that much more difficult to learn over just the swing of Wii Tennis. No need for ultra huge movements after all.

Table Tennis was a piece of shit, there was barely any motion control, hopefully Top Spin will be less of a disappointment, I really like wii sports tennis, and if this game turns out good, I'm definitely getting it.
