I've had games freeze up on a few occasions. Actually, exactly three times. I couldn't get to the Wii menu and had to hit the power button. Three times in almost 10 months? Not bad at all IMO. :)
Those "new and improved 2nd gen" remote straps seem to be holding up, but it's not like the original ones were giving out.

My eject button is no longer working properly. It no longer clicks when I press it in, but rather just sits there very loosely. I often have to press it three or four times to get it to eject. I'm really scared that one day I just won't be able to get a disc out.

My Madden 08 freaked out last night. Froze on the pause screen during a Gameplan session, lost the last game I'd played, even though it autosaved, and i couldn't get the unit to reset without unplugging the power source. Other than that, no problems.

I had a problem with my Wii, it was collecting a lot of dust. Metroid was able to fix that though. =)

My wiimote occasionally switches itself off during gameplay. Needs me to press the A button to kick it back in.

had to send it in a few months back for a graphics card issue. now it works like a champ. had it since launch (except for that week it was at nintendo) and probably played it (or at least turned it on) 90% of the days that i've had it. it has locked up exactly 3 times, requiring a pull to the power plug for a minute. not too bad.

I had a Gamecube game freeze on me twice, but it might have been the disc. I haven't really put the thicker straps to the test because I have yet to let go of the Wiimote during a vigorous swing.

None, none at all. I went for a charging station with battery pack after ripping through dozens of batteries but the console and original Wiimote still work perfectly.
My Nunchuk now that's a different story, I think I got a faulty one to begin with but occasionally it just doesn't respond to movements (which is pretty unnerving in Wii Boxing or Red Steel sword fighting) but maybe I'm just doing the moves wrong.
Before the new 3.0 firmware came out the shop channel got stuck sometimes when my WLAN was to busy with the PC's traffic and I had to cold reset the Wii but that problem's gone.

BUYER BEWARE: The item known as D_SKIN will DESTROY the motorized cd slot because it (THE WII) was designed for cd's without protective sleeves. And will cause cd reading issues.

After I updated to Firmware 3.0 my Blue LED didn't light up for anything. No when I received a message, inserted a game disc and powering on the system. I tried reseting the systems, unplugging it and nothing worked. I shipped it back to Nintendo last week. I just hope my Mii's and saves are intact.

I came last week and noticed my Wii power light wasn't on, but everything else in my entertainment center was working fine. The Wii was dead, like a brick, have no idea what happened, I'm hoping its just the power adapter, its in Nintendo's hands now. :(

@BEANIE Was wiiconnect 24 on and did it die before firmware 3.0? They get really hot in that mode more than regular and the summer heat may have assisted in the assasination of ur wii. Buy a cooler for $15.

All my equipment is still good. Touch wood. But I've only had my Wii for about 2 months.
I noticed however with the Virtual Console that sometimes when I start Mario Bros. that it behaves very strangely and my whole screen goes kind of pinkish and starts vertically scrolling.
This only seems to happen when I have played another game first or I am restarting Mario and not on start up. I have to hard reboot my whole system to get normal behavior again.

@BOO!? My brother had that problem. His control stick may have not been in neutral when connected and any controller can do this thats why its important to not leave controllers face down.

@JEREMY HARTLEY Please call nintendo, but let me tell u what i would do, I would delete mario and re- download it and if the problem still persists call nintendo and tell them help me or ill let go of the wii remote in mid-swing. purchasing the VCgames only gives u a license and redownloading is free of charge.

Mine made a horrible, loud grinding type noise when the disc would spin. I sent it into Nintendo and they just replaced the whole unit. Unfortunately I didnt backup any Miis and when they copied all my data over ti acted liek foreign data and so I can use but not edit any of my Miis. Now it has started occassionally making a higher pitched noise when it loads data off the disc during gameplay. I'm hoping that noise will go away since it isnt all the time. Wondering if my new unit they sent me has a new reset warranty or if I'm going to be SOL.

@SPEEDMONKAY It does have a new warranty but you cant get a bonus extension warranty on it though, I should know. The grinding noise happens with games that have d_skins so i assume this must be a reading problem.

Whenever I press my eject button, the cd doesn't stop, my wii just keeps ejecting, then it acts like it is taking a disc in, then ejects again. Hasn't affected anything, it still plays just fine so I just plan on dealing with it.

@JACOB Try and get it repaired because of the following reasons; ur wii might lock up and u might ultimately end up without that game,no need in waiting for it to break the minute after ur warranty expires, just to be on the safeside u should repair that could be telltale signs on an even deeper problem.

Well my wiimotes seem to turn off for no reason. It happened alot while playing Mario Strikers online, which led to easy goals for the other player.
Also the disc drive clicks every few seconds while playing Metriod Prime 3. I suppose it's the massive amounts of streaming required, and luckily it hasn't freezed yet.

Well, I've got a strange problem. I can't be arsed to dig out my corded controllers to replicate this issue, but my Wavebirds aren't being recognized by Super Mario Sunshine when trying to play the game on my Wii console. Super Monkey Ball and SSBM work fine, but not Sunshine.
Call it a blessing in disguise if you like. At least I still have the Cube in a box somewhere.

I have troubles w/ one of the mini-games in Rayman. The one where you hit a coloured radio and then the corresponding rabids. I can kill the first three and then the wiimote will not respond to further motions. Apart from that it's been great.

nothing really major but i had my wii froze up on me a couple of times.
and, nothing to do with the hardware but just my plain stupidity, i swung the wiimote real hard for a good follow-through on one of my bowling sessions and i hit my forehead it with. i made a strike and i had the lump on my forehead to prove it.

The Wii here freezes up several times a week, usually during Mario Strikers or Wii Sports. NOA sent me a new disc for Wii Sports suspecting that it might be a scratch issue, but it still freezes with the new disc, too. Back to Nintendo this Wii will go.

I recently bought Harry Potter for my wii and the first time I opened my map, the game sort of froze, well not really froze, but didn't let me pick a character or exit the map area. So I had to reset the system and since then my map has been working fine.

i got my wii about a month ago and the first two weeks were great but now it seems to have trouble reading discs. i try and play tiger woods and it very rarely recognizes it, while i can hear some intense spinning on the inside. it usually recognizes my other games provided that i dont start off with tiger inside eject and put another in. also it almost always freezes after a few minutes of playing any game.
i neeed help bad. it's like not fufilling an addiction. i miss tiger, and madden, and the whole mario strickers gang!

I have had my Wii for about 4 months, LOVE IT! Up until the other night, it worked fine. Now, it doesn't seem to matter what game I load, the drive makes this horrible sound as the CD is spinning. I have not, nor plan to use protective skins on my CDs. I am careful with my CDs (ie. no finger prints, dust, etc). Any ideas? Thanks.
