Nintendo Wii Fanboy

Hell yeah. I skipped the gamecube (and n64)
but now I'm buying gamecube games left and right 2nd hand for peanuts. Even got me a wireless wavebird.
But what are the games I should be buying?

I wanted to get ready to play Metroid Prime 3 Corruption so I decided to get Metroid Prime and play through it first while I was waiting... This was about a month ago.

Now I didn't have a Gamecube before the Wii so I had to buy a Gamecube controller in addition to the used Metroid Prime game. I picked up an Intec wireless controller - Big Mistake.

Unfortunately the wireless controller I bought only worked for about the first hour. So I got about an hour of play on MP before I had to send the controller out for repair - I am still waiting for it to come back. And yes, I could just go out and buy another GameCube controller but I refuse to do that when they could have and should have made my "Classic Controller" play GameCube games just fine.

So my Gamecube experience so far has been an exercise in futility.

i had a gc and an n64 and a nes although i never had a superness i had an amiga instead.

i still enjoy putting on some of my fav cube games and playing them on my wii, was playing metroid prime, mario kart double dash and f-zero the other day sooo much fun.

I need to pick up a Wavebird. hmm... Been playing Paper Mario: 1K Year Door. Man, that game is fun. Of course staples like MP6 and MP7 are always hits when people come over...

Skipped the gamecube but have gone back and picked up alot of GC games including Resident Evil 0 and 1 remake. Warioware (before Smooth Moves came out) both Metroids, Zelda and Star Wars Rogue Squadron all of which make for great diversions when my wrist gets a little tired of waggling.

yeah, I skipped some consoles too. I have more Gamecube games than Wii games. Soul Calibur, Wind Waker, Zelda Collector's edition, and Bond EON all make my current play list by way of Wavebird.

I started off gaming on the NES and then i got my first system the original gameboy(It was the only thing i asked for that christmas ^_^) In the clear model . i play my gamecube from time to time but i always play the games regardless of the gaming platform.

I did not own a console after my Atari 5200, until I got my little purple lunchbox.

We routinely play Mario Kart: Double Dash, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee and Wario Ware: Mega Micorgames. We have a full set of 4 WaveBirds (best 'standard' controller, ever). I still have a few 'Cube games that I have not completed...Sphinx, i-Ninja, Eternal Darkness...but will finally get to at some point.

I love that the Wii can play them all.

I've buyed about twenty used GC games on ebay, and I'm quite satisfied, while waiting for good Wii games to come.
Didn't know Gamecube was so cool!

@DENNIS you should buy KILLER7,F-ZERO GX,SUPERMARIO SUNSHINE,PAPERMARIO:TTYD,THE MORTAL KOMBAT SERIES,MARIO PARTY SERIES, THE ZELDA SERIES, THE SONIC SERIES, MEGAMAN SERIES, BAITEN KAITOS SERIES And try to look at the players choice collection.

I never owned a GC, but my friend and I had way more fun on that than I ever did on my PS2. That's the direct reason I bought a Wii...

I now own Super Mario Sunshine (how can people diss such a good game?) and LoZ:Windwaker (again, how can you not love it?)
I'd like to get my hands on some Star Wars games, probably Rogue squadron

I dumped my GC, Melee, and two controllers on a friend for $50 when I got the Wii. I kept two controllers and most of my games, especially Zelda and the Prime games. I've been playing through Prime 1 and 2 again before I sink my teeth into 3. I'm also sure that when I get bored with Wii games (might be a while), I'll set back into a Wind Waker game, my third playthrough.

For a while, Primes were making up most of my play time with the Wii. Now it's about 50% Wii games, 30% VC games, and 20% GC games.

Pick the ones that interest you out of this. You can't go wrong with the top five here, except for RE4 which you'd do much better to pay the extra $10 to get the Wii version, which allows Wii controls or GC controls and has a ton of extra content.

I have my GameCube hooked up in the bedrom and usually play resident evil (0, 1, 3 and 4) games before going to bed. Other games I am currently playing on the cube: Killer 7, Ikaruga, Harvest Moon Magical Melody, Beyond Good and Evil, Super Mario Sunshine and more.

I bought four GameCube games without owning a GameCube in anticipation of the Wii's release (2 for one deal at Toys r Us):
- Mario Golf
- Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

- Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

I've since purchased:
- Geist ($9.99 New)
- Gun ($9.99 New)
- Killer 7

I'm new with the Wii, but I've picked up a few Cube games along the way. I have the Zelda collector's edition and Harry Potter, and intend to buy some more (certainly Sunshine and 1K Year Door, probably Madagascar, possibly Tetris Worlds). The last two are to satisfy my wife and son!

Any good suggestions for other nonviolent (Cube or Wii) games, given that I'm playing endless Super Paper Mario at the moment, and bought the Wii mostly for Elebits?

I started replaying Tales of Symphonia and introduced the girlfriend to the addictive Animal Crossing... but then Strikers came out and that has dominated the wii ever since. I only play the new metroid when the internet is down or slow.

I still need to beat the baten kaitos sequel too, as well as chibi robo...

I actually played Rogue Leader the other night, and that was a lot of fun... and still beautiful. In 480p, those space battles are really fun.

I tried to pawn off my Gamecube but no, you have to sell a controller with it too. Which is not going to happen as long as Melee and Brawl are around. Other than Melee, SCII, Mario Kart: DD and Kirby Air Ride (which is stupidly simple but fun in a kindergarten kind of way) get some play time every once in a while.

i skipped owning a GC, and since I got my wii all i've gotten is mario kart double dash. only mario kart game i didn't have, and i figure it will tide me over until mario kart wii comes out

i hate that the classic controllers don't work with the gc. so i got my system and bought wii play ($50), 2 classic controllers ($40), and 2 gc controllers ($30). shouldn't have to spend $120 on controllers for 2 people to play stuff on a new system

I was lucky and got a GameCube a few years back from my girlfriend for Christmas. I only have a few games, many of which I still haven't even played. I think I've only played MP1 and MP2 on my Wii. Though, when I get a better tv that has a better resolution, I'll probably play a lot of the older GC games on it, like Star Wars... and my only issue with controller problems is MegaMan Collection. I can't play that game anymore with the buttons reversed. How horrible not to have a customizeable control interface. I thought about getting a new GC controller and just rewiring the buttons, or I could just get it for my PS2. ...

I can't believe no one's mentioned one of (easily) the top 3 original games on the Cube...ETERNAL DARKNESS!!

I got an HDTV right around when I got the Wii, so I'm not as inclined to play the older games because they look crap on the big TV. I'm definitely going to need to hook up my older model to the bugger at some point, so I can properly re-enjoy Metroid, Zelda, and ETERNAL DARKNESS (just so those who've not played Cube games before can see it twice in capital letters).

@11. I like Zelda: WW a lot, but not Super Mario Sunshine. Go figure.

I owned a Gamecube and kept all my older games. I play a good number of them (Melee, DoubleDash) with friends. I played the first two Prime games to hold me off till Corruption (really helped me be sharp on the storyline). The only gave I've bought since I got my Wii is the Megaman X Collection (totally worth the $17).

I agree, Devine, Eternal Darkness was one of the best early GC games and is still in my top five for the console.

HOW HAS NO ONE TALKED ABOUT MELEE? Super smash for the cube was easily the best game. Unlimited replay value, above average graphice, plus its just really fun to play. If you just got a wii you HAVE to go out right now and buy melee

But like Devine, I CAN NOT believe NO ONE mentioned this title. A BIG SHAME ON THE REST OF YOU PEOPLE!!!
Dennis, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND BUY ETERNAL DARKNESS!!!
Only then, will you realize how special Silicon Knights is to the gaming industry. Oh, and then buy Metal Gear Soilid: Twin Snakes and RE Collector's Pack.

Hell, half the reason I got a Wii was because my GCN stopped reading discs. That and my B-Day was coming up and I wanted to upgrade.

Anyone who isn't rocking Super Smash Bros Melee and Mario Kart: Double Dash is just a fool in my opinion, but that's just me :-) I definitely still rock the GC, and I'm glad I replayed Metroid Prime 1&2 before picking up 3, as I'll never be able to go back to the controls of the GC games again. There's a lot of titles I've been wanting to pick up as well, especially Metal Gear. But in all seriousness, if you don't own Super Smash Melee you should stop reading and go over to Amazon. It's ok, I'll wait.

I still play Cube games often, but I use my Cube for that. The reason I kept it is because I have several japan-only games, and my Cube is properly modded with a region-switch to play these.

So, I'll have keep it until someone comes up with a freeloader or a proper region mod for the Wii.

Currently, I'm once again addicted to Ikaruga, and was playing Prime 2 again until Prime 3 arrived. :)

My partner and I play Mario Kart: Double Dash all the time. I think I just enjoy beating him every time. Simpsons Road Rage is a lot of fun, too.

I never owned the GC, but since I got my Wii I bought 2 of my favourite titles: MarioKart and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I've got a few more on my list to get as well and check eBay all the time for GC deals.

I also only use my GC Wavebirds when playing VC games.

That's weird, though...I did a text search on the page...maybe I misspelled "Eternal".

The point is, it can't hurt to re-mention ETERNAL DARKNESS to those who haven't played it (it gets my personal vote for best story in a videogame when you combine it with the ever-progressing gameplay...great progression of being in the dark and feeling impotent to understanding things and feeling powerful).

I feel like I could go on for a while with these terribly boring games, so if you feel like wasting you time, pick any of these up. :-)

Of course I still play GC games. The Wii is great for playing those mini-discs, especially with a wavebird or two. There are some classic games for it that will never go out of style. Metroid Prime, Smash Bros, Windwaker, F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur II, Double Dash, Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, and the list goes on and on... Smash Bros. (as well as checking smashbros.com) has been very popular lately among my friends because of the anticipation for Brawl to come out (Don't worry about Sept. 25th, Dec. 3rd is the only date that matters right now...)

I didn't like Double Dash that much, so I don't play it often; I stick with Mario Kart DS when I need some racing. I am, however, practicing up at Smash Bros Melee like mad, so that I'll be somewhat ready to kick some ass when Brawl comes out.

I have the Star Wars games and Ghost Recon games. Like most people I skipped the N64 and GC for a Playstation and PS2. Now I did have more Game Cube games when I first got my Wii but since have traded them for Wii games.
