I might change it to red or possibly orange so it can match the WiiConnect24 light.

Or if i'm crazy enough i'll just change the wii connect light to blue.

Red would make me think that my Wii is dying. And that I'd have to ship it to Nintendo and get a new one, only to have it die again.

(Talismoon advertises it as "one of the easiest customizations for the Wii," reassuring interested buyers that installing the mod won't require breaking any warranty seals.)

1) The only "warranty seals" that exist on the Wii are those screw covering stickers and feet that they are telling you to remove. The same could be said for any case mod that doesn't require you to drill or cut your original Wii case. In other words, that's marketing mumbo-jumbo.

2) Be very careful when removing those screw covers. I've used pliers, tweezers and a square razor blade when removing them in the past, and they are very easy to damage if you are not careful.

3) This company completely neglects to tell you that you need to order a special "Tri-wing driver" in order to take the faceplate off in the first place. A regular phillips head screwdriver Will Not Work on the Tri-wing screws holding the faceplate on. A Tri-wing driver usually only costs a few bucks, but the Wii faceplate cannot be taken off without one, and you will probably have to order one oneline, as most hardware stores do not carry them.

Other than that, this sounds like a great faceplate mod for those who don't know how to just solder a couple LEDs inside their Wii's faceplate (if you keep the original LEDs, you can just resolder them later, should a warranty issue arise and you need to send your Wii out to Ninty, not to mention you could do a two color mod instead, which can actually look pretty badass).

OOPS, I just went to the actual article, and this mod does in fact come with the Tri-wing driver required for removing the faceplate. Maybe next time I should read the original article before responding to a Wiifanboy posting that doesn't include all of the information. My mistake.

This is quoted from the Nintendo Wii Warranty information that comes with the Wii.

THIS WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY IF THIS PRODUCT: (a) IS USED WITH PRODUCTS NOT SOLD OR LICENSED BY NINTENDO (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NON-LICENSED GAME ENHANCEMENT AND
COPIER DEVICES, ADAPTERS, AND POWER SUPPLIES); (b) IS USED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES (INCLUDING RENTAL); (c) IS MODIFIED OR TAMPERED WITH; (d) IS DAMAGED BY NEGLIGENCE, ACCIDENT,
UNREASONABLE USE, OR BY OTHER CAUSES UNRELATED TO DEFECTIVE MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP; OR (e) HAS HAD THE SERIAL NUMBER ALTERED, DEFACED OR REMOVED

As you can read that part "c" says that the warranty is void if you modify or tamper with the Wii. This means in anyway. So Talismoon is lying to everyone about how this product does not void the warranty.
