According to Zentendo, we haven't heard anything on Disaster: Day of Crisis because they've been hard at work on it. The story involves a terrorist group who use a natural disaster as a window to attack and hold the United States hostage. As the protagonist, it's up to you to throw a wrench in the cog and stop them. Why would they want to attack the United States? Well, they're ex-patriots who feel wronged (and probably want lots of money), apparently.
When are we supposed to be receiving this game? Q1 or Q2 of 2008, Zentendo says.
Disaster: Day of Crisis still a possibility?

No, you will use Expelliarmus to disarm them.

We only know that the main character is named Ray, and have seen a 3 sec clip, and a pair of images.
I think its best to treat this title as a fan-game, and leave it to die, since its obvious Nintendo doesn't care about bringing us new licenses.
It'll take more than a rumor from Zentendo to convince me otherwise.

This was one of my most anticipated games before the wii came out. I hope this is an actual game, that will actually release. I just like the idea, and the graphics are great.
By the way-only 3 seconds?

More then Zentendo? How about the fact that the studio that's makin' this, Monolith Soft, was recently purchased by Nintendo.
I was unaware that this game was rumored to have gotten the ax. I just assumed it was going to be something that was coming out in 'o8 all along.

Ok, Andrew, point made, I hadn't seen that video.
Still, Its kinda annoying me how Nintendo hasn't sent out a word regarding Battalion Wars or Fire Emblem, and those ship soon-ish... So of course they'll keep their lips sealed regarding DoC.
I hope, however, that this game is really being worked on, but I won't cry if it isn't :p

No: This game was specifically ruined NOT to have been given the axe (as confusing as taht sounds)
Nintendo said, i believe in the same breath as they announced HAMMER's "hiatus" in development, that Disaster was on track
good to see them pick non-stereotypical terrorists (not Muslims, White Supremacists, or Socialists)

Wait Wait Wait...
When was Disaster NOT a possibility? Was it not on Nintendo's lineup of releases for Japan a month or two back? Or am I mistaken?

damn, i'm usually less careless with my writing
i meant rumored, not ruined, and of course misspelled that
My guess is Disaster will wind up being one of Nintendo's bigger games for 2008, on par with Mario Kart

I still love the logo for this game. I hope they're still working on it. It has the potential (come on Nintendo!).

Jonathan, my understanding is that we have to try to stop the terrorists while surviving these natural disasters - i guess they stole some nuclear arms or something...

Who knows? It can still happen. Nintendo DOES make new franchises. Some times they give old characters to new franchises, like Donkey Konga or Mario Golf, etc., and some times they take characters away from old franchises, (think Mario's Picross, Mario's Super Picross, and the new Picross DS), and some times they pull new franchises out of thin air. Nintendogs, Brain Age, and Pikmin are pretty new franchises. And they support a lot of second parties and publish their original IP games too. Or... it got axed. I wanted to play it, but I'm sure when Smash Bros. comes out I won't miss anything ever again.

I was hoping the plot involved a terrorist organization that was controlling natural disasters somehow. Damn. Still, it's a nice angle.

yeh i had heard that it was taking longer to develop since nintendo bought over the company making it, and are taking an even bigger role in its creation (possibly meaning better graphics for a start and an all round stunning game)
also from what i heard hammer is now dead and burried, so we wont ever be seeing that game.
as for battalion wars 2 i cant wait for it to come out but its been moved back to january in the UK!
