I use an Olevia 30 inch plasma with the Wii component cables. This is in my room, and the PS3 is in the family room with a Philips 50 inch, 1080i, plasma.

Depends on where I'm at. Back home, I have a 50" Plasma HDTV. Jaggies due to aliasing are more noticeable, but it's still fine, and progressive scan helps out for the games that support it. At school I'm on a 20" flat-screen SDTV. Games look great on it.

I have a 27" SDTV but life is good.Those newfangled hdtv's look so fragile,kinda like a baby lifting an elephant. I am thinking about buying a projector for a giant screen view. I am probably the only one in NewYorkCity that doesnt live in the projects that still has a sdtv.

When I got the wii, I had a 27" tube tv with an RF adapter, so that sucked. But now I have a 37" sdtv with component inputs, and thats pretty good.

@THE3RDMOOSE do you mean to tell me that component cables can automatically upgrade the look of games even if done slightly?

Just a 27" tube. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I have been toying with the idea of an SDTV but still have yet to make up my mind.

I use whenof them large Tv's from around 2001, right befire the days of Plasma, but, it still supports hi-Def, and it automatically uspacles everything to 480p, regardless of wires.

I'm looking around for a new tv now, for those with experience and or knowledge, what type would be best for gaming? I've seen the terms LCD, Plasma, CRT, DLP, etc...

I'll end up going with the Samsung brand, between 30-50in.

I've got a Samsung HLP5085W 50" DLP known affectionately by the online community as the "captain kirk" because of the glowing blue touch-sensitive front panel.

It's kind of a monster, but it sure gets the job done. Even two and a half years later, it still impresses me. TV's have evolved a lot in the past few years, but this one still looks great when stacked up against those coming out today.

All the video feeds actually go into my stereo which upconverts the signal and sends it all over to the TV via HDMI cable. So there's only one cable coming out of the audio tower. That's a major plus for making things looks clean.

I had a 43" 4:3 crt projection tv, that did 480p but was never what you would call 'clear' - this monster died recently so I upgraded to a 42" sharp aquos 1080p lcd. For the first time I'm disappointed in the Wii. The games are still as fun, and I'm playing more now - but the visuals are sad. Having a CRT that 'anti-aliases' for you is really a Good Thing.

Now I want a 360 for the beauty of it, although I don't think I could play certain games without the wiimote again. When's Wii2 coming?

Yes, the component cables definitely make the picture look better. It's not 480p, but the colors are more vibrant. And you can get a cable for about $6 after shipping on amazon.

21-inch TV. There's no reason to buy a HDTV to play Wii games, as everything looks better on a normal TV than a HDTV when you're at 480i resolution.

27-inch standard television through S-Video. I can't validate a purchase of an HDTV at this point... plus I play a lot of Saturn, N64, Genesis, etc, which would probably look disgusting on a new display.

I have a 40 inch Sony XBR 2 LCD. I bought it to go with my PS3 (yeah I own one) and I use the cables that came with my Wii to hook it up.

Lately though I see lines on my tv when I play....anyone got any ideas what it is? Almost looks like its flickering.

Upscaling situation is a grab-bag. Zelda: OoT makes my eyes bleed with the aliases, as does Wii Sports and Twilight Princess, but other games look excellent, especially Secret Rings, F-Zero GX, and Windwaker

i rock my wii (and dreamcast ;) ) on a poor man's hdtv of sorts... i use a 21" sony gdm-5402 crt computer monitor and a neoya x2vga2 component to rgb converter, so that i can bring the video signal from the wii into the monitor.
this enables me to use the widescreen and 480p settings on the wii.
i highly recommend this set up to anyone who can't afford an HDTV, but has a computer monitor lying around and $100 for the converter (which comes packed with wii component cables)...
this set up (thanks to the x2vga2) also allows you to set up an xbox360 or ps3, if you so choose, and witness those respective systems running at 1080p. (for the record, wii is my go to system, but i like to play games on just about any system).
on the wii, i find playing the with widescreen settings and at 480p to be vastly superior to the 4:3 480i settings... even with the simple looking titles like wii sports (or hell, even just the wii menu and channels) look considerably sharper and more vivid... not to mention how the 16:9 widescreen settings really open up your field of view in every title that supports it.
i couldn't imagine playing metroid/zelda/cod3 etc... any other way.

i hope it works good to because that monitor has a lot higher resolution than my TV

That's one of the things that factored in to me buying a Wii. I can't really use any of the other "next gen" consoles with my current tv, making the other 2 consoles not only a $600.00 (each) purchase, but a $600.00 + $2000.00 (for the tv to play them on) purchase.

I play on a 42" Hitachi Plasma, 1080i resolution. Games look awesome on it, both from the Wii and the 360. I'm just waiting for my surround sound system to come through.

I have a beautiful 42" Hitachi plasma widescreen HDTV. I got it because the Wii (only console I own) supports widescreen gaming.

HEADS UP, DEVELOPERS: I, and many other gamers like me, will not buy your game - no matter how good it is - if it doesn't support 16:9 widescreen.

A recent "Everybody Votes" poll asked the voter if the TV being used to cast this vote is a Widescreen or Other. I was surprised to see the results. Over half the respondents were using a widescreen TV to get their Wii fix. Nintendo needs to ensure none of their games release to the public without full widescreen support.

I have my Wii (and my xbox1, ps2 and dreamcast) hooked up to my 32" 8 year old CRT TV in my living room. I have rabbit ears on top and even though I live in the middle of no where, the reception on the 4 or so channels that come in is usually decent, albeit a little bit snowy. All four game systems look beautiful on it with normal cables. Paid around $200 for it in 1999. I have comfortable seating for about 9 people in my 13' x 13' living room, so for the the most part a larger TV is out of the question (no space, too close). I may buy an HD set in a few years just as soon as a quality 32" HD set costs less than $200. I won't pay any more than that, I refuse to overpay for something that will just be eclipsed in a couple of years buy newer technology and I am very patient (didn't get a PS2 until less than 2 years ago, only paid $20 for it and repaired it myself with another broken ps2 I got for free, for example). So yeah, HD sets do look great, but not great enough for me to justify spending the ridiculous prices they sell for.

oh, almost forgot, I have a nice 8" powered Jensen sub with 5 satelites that I spent $40 on on clearance @ Sears. I use a record player/powered reciever I bought at the Salvation Army for $15 to run the surround sound setup. It fucking cranks, even if it doesn't run 5.1, I don't have any devices that put out 5.1 sound anyway (standard cables for all systems).

Well, I had a 15 1/2" Sorny, but he UHF knob fell off. Then I upgraded to a 21 " Magnetbox. That was fine for a while, but my friend sent a Wiimote into it like warm butter. He was sorry and got me a 42" Panasoanic LDC with 4 DHMI outputs. It is sweat!

I use an infocus 800x600 DLP Video projector (which i got on ebay for 300 bugs, but still has 2000 hours of lamp life left) on a 2,5 Meter canvas. not bad.

wow, you guys have pretty big TVs.

i have a 19" 1440X900 samsung thats not 'officially' HD because it lacks component/HDMI inputs.(has DVI/VGA instead) Bit of a pain in the ass for the wii, not a problem for the 360.
